Team SouL’s Coach Reveals the Salaries of Esports Coaches and T1 Players

Team SouL’s Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) coach Amit “Amit” Dubey recently shared insights into the salaries of coaches and players in the Indian esports industry. He revealed that his starting salary in Legstump was under ₹20,000, which doubled twice before the game was banned, and he earned a peak salary between ₹60,000 and ₹80,000 at that time. He also estimated that Tier-1 coaches have a salary of at least ₹50,000, while T1 players usually have salaries in six digits, depending on the organization.
Amit claims T1 BGMI players earn a six-digit salary
In a recent live stream, a viewer asked Amit how much he earned as an esports coach. Responding to this, stated that his starting salary in Legstump (LS) was under ₹20,000 INR. However, the ban on the game halted his progress, and he was earning somewhere between ₹60,000 and ₹80,000 at the time. “My starting salary in LS was under ₹20,000, then it doubled, then it again got doubled, and then the game got banned. It was somewhere around 80,000. Between ₹70,000 and ₹80,000. That was the peak salary I ever received. It was between ₹60,000 and ₹80,000, with a 10% deduction of TDS. I used to get around ₹50,000 salary (after the deduction) and some additional amount from Loco,” he said.
Amit revealed that after the ban of BGMI, he was not receiving any salary from S8UL Esports or earning anything from Loco. “So everything was going alright, but now, I am not getting any salary from the organization or Loco. So nothing right now. Whatever I earn now is only from Superchats, with a deduction of 33% from YouTube,” he said.
Amit provided some insights into the salaries of Tier-1 (T1) coaches and players in the Indian esports industry. He mentioned that it’s rare for people to disclose their exact salaries but gave an estimate that T1 coaches usually have a salary of around ₹50,000 at least. “But the salary of T1 players usually depends on the organization. T1 players usually have salaries in six digits. It might not be a six-digit salary in every organization, but most of the organizations that I know pay a six-digit salary,” he added.
BGMI is still unavailable in the country, and is still unknown if or when the game will return. Amid the game’s unavailability, many organizations have stopped paying the salaries of their players and coaches, as Amit mentioned.
