He put forth the example of Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) pro player Raj “Snax” Varma, who is dedicated to improving his physical and mental health, subsequently improving his gameplay as well. He also highlighted that Indian teams tend to play more matches than international teams, causing chaos and impacting their performance.
SardarJi urges Indian esports athletes to live like traditional athletes
In a recent livestream, SardarJi discussed the performance of Indian and international teams on the global stage. During this discussion, he explained the necessity of lifestyle changes esports players need to adapt in order to improve their in-game performance. He stated that esports athletes should start living life like traditional athletes by adopting healthy habits, such as eating healthy, going to the gym, and prioritizing their training schedule. “An athlete’s life is a very dedicated one. When you live that life and bring that discipline, then you will grow. Athletes from other countries do follow this lifestyle, but Indians don’t,” he added.
SardarJi put forth the example of Snax, who is dedicated to improving his physical and mental health, along with his gameplay. He stressed that players need to wake up on time, eat healthy, grind, do Yoga or meditation, and improve their mental health. “There are coaches for these things in good bootcamps. You have to do these things. You have to live like an athlete. Then only you will succeed, and then you will get that discipline,” he added.
SardarJi expressed his belief that there is a lot of chaos in Indian esports matches compared to international teams, as Indian teams try to play as many matches as possible. He stated that international teams play limited matches, mostly major events. Instead, they play third-party events with high prize pools and play aggressively to improve their skills. He expressed that Indian teams should have the same approach towards competitive matches instead of playing every match.
The well-being of mental health and physical health is as important to esports athletes as it is important to traditional athletes. According to a study published in 2020, esports players benefit from increased physical activity which usually results in an enhancement of competitive performance.
