His flexibility and mastery of the heroes allowed him to lead RSG PH into a dominant run in the fourth week with a 5-2 leaderboard score.
RSG PH’s Nathzz also revealed what motivated him to improve himself and surpass his limits in the MPL PH Season 11.
Sanford served as Nathzz’s motivation
The Season 9 champion RSG Slate PH are parading a new roster in Season 11. Initially, the team displayed signs of weakness but they players have now appeared to have found their groove recently. Nathzz went on to spearhead the team to win three of their last four games, including an impressive 2-0 sweep victory against the M4 world champion ECHO.
Throughout the team's matchups against Nexplay EVOS and ECHO, the 16-year-old EXP Laner exhibited adaptability and flawless hero mastery by using five different hero selections in each of the five games that were played.
The Season 9 Finals MVP averaged 4.6 kills and seven assists while conceding only 1.2 deaths over the weekend, earning himself the Razer Gold-MPL PH Press Corps Player of the Week award for the week of 3rd - 9th March.
According to Nathzz, he gets his motivation from his challenger mentality after seeing ECHO EXP laner Sanford "Sanford" Vinuya take the world title early this year.
"I'm a challenger now because I want to surpass Sanford," he said. "I'm a challenger and I look up to him. That's what I'm also thinking."
Nathzz won the weekly award over teammate Dylan "Light" Catipon. In Week 4, no other players received votes for the Player of the Week award.
Aside from earning the prestigious award, Nathhz will also receive a Razer Blackshark V2, courtesy of Razer Gold.
