The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines (PH) Season 10 playoff stage started with RSG PH securing a dominant 3-0 clean sweep victory over the rookie-laden squad of ONIC PH. This victory was a massive statement for the defending champion, who had not won a single series against the Yellow Hedgehogs during its regular season journey. RSG PH will face ECHO in the upper bracket semifinals, whereas ONIC PH has been eliminated from the playoffs. Through a post-match press conference, the reigning champion shared how the team prepared for the MPL PH Season 10 playoffs, especially its revenge match against the Yellow Hedgehogs.
RSG PH sweeps ONIC PH to secure upper bracket semifinals spot
With ONIC PH shocking the fans with its dominant performance in the regular season, the pressure was high for RSG PH as both teams were determined to advance to the next stage of the tournament.
The first game of the series was a tug-of-war between the two rivals. Frince "SUPER FRINCE" Miguel Ramirez’s Faramis gave RSG PH a hard time in every team fight due to the massive sustain capabilities from his Cult Altar. However, ONIC PH was always behind in terms of objective secures, allowing the defending champion to take a huge lead. Kenneth "Nets" Barro went for a backdoor play with his Beatrix but due to the recent nerf, RSG PH closed the game earlier and took the first win of the series.
The defending champion kept its momentum going for two more games. While ONIC PH showed impressive execution of its team compositions, the Yellow Hedgehogs were severely out-drafted and could not secure a single win, resulting in RSG PH taking a 3-0 victory.
How RSG PH prepared for its match against ONIC PH
Through a post-match press conference, RSG PH’s head coach Brian "Panda" Lim admitted that the pressure was high as the team prepared for its match against ONIC PH in the MPL PH Season 10 playoffs.
“Honestly, losing two times and not getting a score in the regular season and then facing the same opponents in playoffs is a really big pressure, just like how I was always pressured by Blacklist [International] before,” stated Panda.
Despite the pressure, the coach made sure that the team was well-equipped with the necessary knowledge for its revenge match.
“We first made sure to have the proper discipline, fundamentals, communication, and decision-making,” Coach Panda explained. “After that, we reviewed the game we lost to ONIC PH in the regular season.”
RSG PH will face ECHO in the upper bracket semifinals on 21st October at 1:00 PM (PHT). ONIC PH will be heading home for now and hope for a better run in the next MPL season.
