Hi5 emerges as the champions of the Pokemon Unite Asia Champions League 2023
Taiwanese Pokemon Unite team Hi5 recently emerged as the champions of the Pokemon Unite Asia Champions League 2023. The team put on an incredible performance throughout the championship and won it without losing a single match in the finals, as well as the East Asia regional championship.
The Pokemon Unite Asia Champions League 2023 featured six teams divided into two groups, playing in a round-robin format. T2, RISE, and Marcos Gaming were in Group A, while Hi5, TeamMYS, and Revenant Esports were in Group B. In the group stage, Indian teams, Marcos Gaming and Revenant Esports got eliminated from the championship after losing all their matches. In the semifinals, Team MYS defeated T2, and Hi5 defeated RISE to qualify for the Grand Finals.
Although Team MYS had an incredible start in the grand finals, winning the first two rounds, Hi5 made a comeback and won the three remaining rounds consecutively, emerging as the champions of the Pokemon Unite Asia Champions League 2023.
Orangutan Gaming signed Hi5’s Pokemon Unite roster
Prior to the start of the Pokemon Unite Asia Champions League 2023, Hades revealed, in his livestream, that Orangutan Gaming was actively working on signing a Pokemon Unite roster. He revealed that he had to visit Malaysia to facilitate the signing of the roster. However, he did not reveal which roster the organization had planned to sign.
During the championship, Hades received messages from fans inquiring about the organization’s Pokemon Unite roster. In response to these queries, Hades posted an Instagram Story revealing that the organization had signed the Pokemon Unite roster of Hi5 just before the Pokemon Unite Asia Champions League 2023. However, as the preparations for the championship were already completed, the tournament organizer ESL did not allow the team to change its in-game name, so it played with the same name.
Furthermore, Hades clarified that the team would play under the banner of Orangutan Gaming in the upcoming Pokemon Unite World Championship 2023.
So, for everyone asking, we signed Hi5 before the start of the Asia Championship, but at the last moment, ESL didn’t allow us to change the team name. As all preparations were done with the Hi5 tag, the team will be repping the OG Tag in the upcoming WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP.
Since Pokemon Unite’s launch, the game has seen massive traction from the Indian gaming community. Furthermore, the game has attracted a massive player base due to the ban on popular titles like Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) and Free Fire. As a result, Indian organizations have been showing a massive interest in the game. After showing such an incredible performance in the Pokemon Unite Asia Champions League 2023, it will be exciting to see how Hi5 will perform in the Pokemon Unite World Championship 2023.
