ONIC PH recently released one of its talents Edgar "ChooxTV" Dumali from its Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Professional League (MPL) Philippines (PH) Season 10 roster. The popular MLBB personality is known for his unorthodox playstyle and item builds, and is also one of the biggest streamers in the community. Following the release of ChooxTV, the league announced that ONIC PH received a penalty as it violated one of the General Roster Change Rules which states that teams are not allowed to release a player while the official league season is ongoing. The MPL PH did not reveal how much is the fine imposed on the team for its violation.
ONIC PH in trouble for releasing ChooxTV mid-season
ChooxTV is one of the most iconic personalities in the MLBB community due to his humorous way of enjoying the game. With ONIC PH’s roster reveal, he was one of the celebrities that joined the competitive scene similar to Nexplay EVOS’ Setsuna "Akosi Dogie" Ignacio and RSG PH’s Elyson "Wrecker" Caranza.
However, his career in the esport scene was short-lived after the esports organization announced that they have released ChooxTV from its roster. In its post, ONIC PH captioned “it looks like we can only dream of seeing Layla Tank and Marksman Estes.”
While fans were upset with this sudden announcement, the MPL PH committee announced that the esports organization received a penalty as it violated rule 6.1 of the General Roster Change Policy. The rule stated that "Teams are not allowed to unilaterally terminate Player Service Agreement arbitrarily."
The MPL PH added that "The league also hopes to deter further instances of this violation. MPL Philippines Season 10 Operations committee seeks to uphold the highest standard of professionalism and fairness to ensure we deliver the best esports experience to our beloved community. Please look forward to an even bigger Week 3."
Neither ChooxTV nor ONIC PH have revealed the reason behind this sudden release. Fans will have to keep their eyes peeled for more updates in the future.
