Omega Esports may be looking to acquire Bren Esports’ iconic veteran player Carlito "Ribo" Ribo Jr. and former ONIC Philippines (PH) pro player Paul "Beemo" Sergio. According to Billy “Z4pnu” Alfonso, the esports organization is looking to sign the two potential recruits in its Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Development League (MDL) Philippines (PH) division. The development league was originally going to be announced alongside the Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) PH Season 9. However, it was eventually moved to be opened in Season 10. Also, Omega Esports is yet to confirm Z4pnu’s statement regarding the recruitment of Ribo and Beemo so fans should take it with a grain of salt.
Omega Esports may be preparing for MDL PH
Z4pnu previously mentioned that he was in talks for acquiring Nexplay EVOS’ John "H2wo" Pau and Bren Esports’ Ribo for MPL PH Season 10. However, his recent vlog revealed that his team is preparing to build a roster for the MDL PH which may be happening alongside the upcoming league season.
According to Z4pnu, he wanted to sign Romiere "Allidap" Padilla to the MDL division. However, the pro player declined the offer as he wanted to focus on his family for the meantime. “Allidap said that he wants to focus on Davao [City, Philippines] because he missed his family and his girlfriend. He wanted to work there too,” Z4pnu explained.
According to the veteran player, Omega Esports’ MDL squad is lacking an Off-Laner and a Tank specialist. Z4pnu revealed he had two players in mind. “I talked to Beemo and he said he’s ‘G’ for it.The next one we’re acquiring is Ribo as Off-Laner,” he said.
Considering Ribo is one of the MLBB veterans who is considered the “GOAT (Greatest of All Time),” the pro player is a Jack of All Trades and can play in all roles. However, Z4pnu did not mention H2wo who was one of the players he hinted back when he was considering who to acquire for Season 10.
Moonton is yet to officially announce the debut of the first season of MDL PH. However, according to a report from Tiebreaker Times, the development league may be revealed alongside the upcoming MPL PH Season 10. It will be interesting to see more competitive leagues being held in the Mobile Legends esports scene.
