History repeats itself as Nova Esports (NV) become the PUBG Mobile world champions for the second year in a row by winning the PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) 2021. The Chinese esports organization had a fantastic run through the tournament as it finished with a total of 222 points to their name alongside being the only team to cross the 200 point mark at the event.

Though Nova Esports managed to win just a single chicken dinner (WWCD) which came in the ninth game, the overall consistency shown by the team was phenomenal as it balanced its position and kills.

While the team did phenomenally well as a unit, their marksman Ceng "Order" Zehai was in a whole different league individually which led him to being named the MVP of PMGC 2021 with 46 kills and 7793 total damage to his name.

Nova Esports becomes the two time back-to-back PMGC champions

PMGC 2021 came to an end yesterday with the Chinese organization Nova Esports dominating all the 16 teams present at the event, as they walked away with $1,530,000 USD in prize money and the coveted world championship trophy.

This also makes Nova Esports a two time back-to-back PMGC champion, as the team had previously also won the PMGC 2020, which took place at the Hilton Al Habtoor City in Dubai.

The Chinese organization has improved over the course of one season, as this time their performance was even more dominant. They might have only secured a single WWCD but they consistently placed within the top five, a total of 11 times across 18 matches.

Order - MVP of PMGC 2021

Nova Esports' star player and the MVP of the tournament - Order contributed to about 30.3% of the team's overall kills. When tallying his kills with those of his team mates', one comes to realize how they managed to rake up a total of 222 points to their name.

It's amazing to witness NV crowned back-to-back PMGC champions. It’s been a record-breaking year for PUBG MOBILE esports and PMGC has provided the perfect backdrop to show the world how much we have grown. I’m also super excited for the competitive year ahead as we introduce new regions and tournaments allowing more opportunities than ever before for PUBG MOBILE esports players.
James Yang, Director of PUBG MOBILE Global Esports

For the upcoming 2022 season, PUBG Mobile has introduced several changes across its esports program which include:

  • A new look for PUBG MOBILE Pro League (PMPL).

  • The introduction of new regions across the PUBG MOBILE Club Open (PMCO).

  • PUBG MOBILE National Championship (PMNC) now providing players an opportunity to make their way to PMPL.

  • The PMCO will now be a regional amateur and semi-professional competition with: PMCO South America, PMCO Europe, PMCO Africa, PMCO Middle East and PMCO Asia.

  • Teams competing in PMCO will no longer be directly promoted to PMPL, but instead they will compete through PMNC and PMNC Regional Cup with a chance to reach PMPL and eventually the PMGC.
