The list of regions participating in the ONE Esports MPLI 2023 are yet to be officially unveiled.

The iconic member of BloodThirstyKings, Ian "FwydChickn" Hohl, claims that North America (NA) will have one slot for the upcoming ONE Esports Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Invitational (MPLI) 2023. Official announcements for all participating regions are yet to be announced. However, FwydChickn stated that the winner of the North America Challenger Tournament (NACT) 2023 Fall Split shall earn a ticket to the upcoming international event. The NA pro player also shared how it’s weird that a local tournament in NA gets to decide which team shall compete in an invitational event.

FwydChickn unveils that NA will also compete in MPLI 2023

Through a recent livestream, BTK’s star player FwydChickn alleges that NA will be one of the contenders in the upcoming MPLI 2023.

“What’s this about? I mean, do I need to explain? NA is going to the MPL Invitational,” he said. “Got the word about that last night.”

FwydChickn further elaborated that the NA representative shall be decided through the ongoing NACT 2023 Fall Split. This tournament is also a qualifier event for the upcoming M5 World Championship.

“Who’s gonna represent [NA] in MPLI? The winner of NACT goes,” he explained.

While the opportunity to compete in the prestigious tournament is a welcome one for NA teams, FwydChickn shared how he thinks it’s weird that a local tournament gets to decide who competes instead of simply being invited to compete.

“They’re kinda weird that MPLI is supposed to be literally, in the name, ‘invitational’ but they don’t really know how to choose a team, so NA just decided ‘okay, the winner of NACT goes’,” he stated.

According to FwydChickn, “There isn’t supposed to be a tournament that defines who goes, hence the name ‘invitational’.”

Details regarding the participating regions in the international event are yet to be officially revealed. For now, only the Indonesian teams ONIC Esports and RRQ are confirmed to be competing in the tournament.

Should NA indeed secure a reserved slot for the upcoming MPL Invitational 2023, it would mark the region's inaugural participation in this annual invitational tournament. It will be interesting to see who gets to represent North America in the upcoming event.
