The most awaited Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) Philippines (PH) Season 8 has been postponed due to the implementation of the Extended Community Quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila, Philippines. The league made a post in its social media handles on 6th July 2021, stating that they want to prioritize the safety of everyone involved in the production of the seasonal league. The new schedule for the upcoming MPL PH Season 8 is yet to be finalized but the league stated that they will announce it as soon as possible. MPL PH Season 8 has been postponed due to ECQ
Fans will have to wait a bit longer for the upcoming season of MPL PH due to the ongoing ECQ situation in Metro Manila, Philippines. The said ECQ will last from 6th until 20th Aug 2021. The announcement was revealed through the official social media handles of MPL PH.
The schedule for the opening of the MPL PH Season 8 is yet to be announced. However, MPL PH did state that they will be updating everyone with a new set of schedules as soon as possible.
The same thing happened last season with the third week of MPL PH Season 7 being canceled due to ECQ. Cignal Ultra, which was supposed to have their season debut that week, was forced to wait longer before they could participate in the tournament.
The MPL PH Season 8 was originally scheduled to open on 13th Aug 2021 with a match between ONIC PH and Echo, followed by TNC against MPL PH defending champions, Blacklist International. Due to the ECQ situation, the matches will be moved to a later date.
It will be interesting to see how the first week of MPL PH Season 8 unfolds with the arrival of new contenders in the region such as TNC Pro Team, RSG PH, Echo, and the joint force between EVOS Esports and Nexplay Esports, Nexplay EVOS.
