The playoffs stage of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines (PH) Season 10 is approaching. The league reminded fans that scalping is strictly prohibited following a massive demand for playoff tickets. Those found misusing the system and reselling tickets shall face a large punishment or jail time, according to Quezon City Ordinance 2744-2018. Since the MPL PH Season 10 Playoffs tickets went on sale, fans have been suffering frequent crashes on the ticketing website, forcing them to reload the page with some missing out on obtaining a ticket. Despite this, the MPL PH advises fans to buy tickets only from the official ticketing website rather than through unaffiliated merchants.
MPL PH warns fans about scalping
Scalping is a trading style that specializes in mass purchasing products to artificially cause high demand for the said product and then reselling them for a higher value. With the tickets for the MPL PH Season 10 playoffs stage selling at a high rate, the MPL PH made a Facebook post warning fans that it is strict in dealing with scalpers.
“Scalping or reselling tickets at a higher price is strictly prohibited, this is in accordance with the Quezon City Ordinance 2744-2018,” captioned the MPL PH.
The rule states that the penalty for scalping is ₱5,000 PHP or one-year imprisonment. Being sentenced a second time would result in both a monetary fine and jail time. Fans can only purchase up to five tickets.
The MPL PH added that fans should only purchase their tickets from the official ticketing website such as Ticket2Me.
“MPL Philippines encourages fans to purchase tickets only through our official ticketing partner,” the league captioned.
However, due to the high demand, fans have experienced various issues while visiting the website to purchase tickets. This resulted in some fans missing out on booking their seats as most of the tickets are already sold out by the time they refresh the page.
Day Passes for the MPL PH Season 10 playoffs are available for ₱150 PHP for silver and ₱350 PHP for gold on Days 1 and 2, and then ₱350 PHP for silver and ₱550 PHP for gold on the final two days of the competition. The playoffs will be held in the Blue Leaf Cosmopolitan at Robinsons Bridgetowne in Bagumbayan, Quezon City, Philippines.
Needless to say, the MPL PH may not have anticipated this much demand from fans as there were not enough tickets available to accommodate all the fans wishing to see the playoffs stage live at the set venue.
