Former Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) Naman “MortaL” Mathur is one of the most popular gaming content creators in India. He rose to fame with his YouTube videos that showcased his incredible gameplay. In a recent livestream, Mortal spoke about the viral video that played a crucial role in shaping his professional gaming career. He expressed how he felt after he realized how much attention the video received and how the viral video helped him to make a career in gaming.

MortaL explains how the viral clip helped shape his career

MortaL started uploading videos on his YouTube in September 2016. He started his YouTube journey with Mini Militia - Doodle Army 2 but later moved on to PUBG Mobile in mid-2018. He uploaded many videos but got mediocre views on most of his videos. In October 2018, like every other video, he uploaded another video titled “Every PUBG player will watch this Ending.” Little did he know this video would later change his life. As soon as he uploaded the video, it went viral. It accumulated thousands of views overnight. As of writing this article, the video has over a whopping 19 Million views.

In a recent PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2022 (PMGC 2022) watch party, popular Pakistani YouTuber Jehanzeb “MrJayPlays” asked MortaL how he felt and reacted to the success of the viral video. Responding to him, MortaL said, “I will never forget that clip.” Following this, he added, “When that clip went viral, I had around 800 or 900 subscribers. Maybe between 800 and 1200. When I was editing that clip, I edited that video and added the background music; I realized that it was something great.”

“Back then, I did not have an understanding of its depth. I did not estimate how big it would be. But I knew that clip was great,” said MortaL. Following this, MortaL revealed how he felt when he realized the virality of the video. “When others told me what I did was not usual, I realized how good it was. That clip got over 15,0000 overnight. For a person whose average views were around 300 to 500, 15,000 views was a big thing,” he said.

MortaL revealed how the viral video shaped his career. “After the first 15,000 views, I told my mom I wanted to do this for a living. But my mom denied it and said I should study,” he said. “I had already completed my B.Com (Bachelor of Commerce), and I planned to study LLB (Bachelor of Law) and everything, but before that, I got my first YouTube payment. Then my mom allowed me to dedicate one year to gaming,” MortaL added.

MortaL continues to stream various games daily on his YouTube channel. However, he does not play BGMI due to its unavailability in India. However, once the game returns, he will resume playing BGMI.
