Matthew "Nadeshot" Haag won the Esports Personality of the Year award at the Esports Awards 2022 ceremony in December. Naman "MortaL" Mathur, an Indian Battlegrounds Mobile India player and co-founder of S8UL Esports, was also nominated for the award but did not win. However, on 26th December, the Esports Awards revealed the top three contestants for the ‘Esports Personality of the Year’ award on its Twitter handle and revealed that MortaL finished second in the award category.
The Esports Awards reveals the top three contestants for the Esports Personality of the Year
In 2020, MortaL created history by becoming the first ever Indian to be nominated for The Esports Awards. Back then, MortaL finished second under the category of ‘Streamer of the Year’ and third in ‘Esports Mobile Player of the Year.’ In the following year, MortaL was then nominated for “Streamer of the Year”; however he was unsuccessful in winning the coveted award for the second time in a row. This year, he was nominated for the first time for the “Personality of the Year” category at the Esports Awards 2022.
According to the Tweet, the top three contestants out of total twelve nominees for the Esports Personality of the Year are the following:
Nadeshot
MortaL
Charles Christopher White Jr a.k.a moistcr1tikal
Although MortaL did not win the award, finishing in the second place in such a prestigious awards ceremony is a big achievement in itself. In a recent livestream, MortaL explained that a lot of factors are taken into account when selecting the winner for the ‘Esports Personality of the Year’ award. He stated that he was nominated for the first time this year, and maybe the jury will judge him based on how he maintains his personality in the future.
Although MortaL could not bag the ‘Esports Personality of the Year’ award at the Esports Awards 2022, S8UL Esports was able to defeat big-league esports organizations to win the ‘Content Group of the Year’ award.
