The team still has to compete in the final week of the regular season of MPL PH Season 8 before heading to the playoffs.

Nexplay EVOS analyst Niel “Midnight” De Guzman confirms that his team has secured its playoffs slot in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines (PH) Season 8. Nexplay EVOS is widely known for the meme “8th place secured” due to the team always ending in an 8th place finish in the previous MPL PH runs. Midnight finally said that his team is no longer settling for the 8th place finish as the lowest position in the playoffs is 6th place. Midnight also explains why he can say Nexplay EVOS is secured for playoffs despite the regular season still ongoing.

Nexplay EVOS’ analyst Midnight celebrates the team’s hard-earned ticket to the playoffs

The fan-favorite team can finally let go of the “8th place secured“ meme after Midnight confirmed that the team is officially set to compete in the playoffs of the MPL PH Season 8. According to the team’s analyst, no matter what happens in the final week of the regular season, Nexplay EVOS will still make it to the playoffs, with 6th place as the lowest rank for a finish.

“Now (regular season), we are in third place, but our placement in the playoffs would be within top 6,” stated Midnight.

Midnight explained further as to why he can confidently say this despite the regular season still ongoing. According to the analyst, no matter what happens in the final week, Nexplay EVOS remains in the top 6 spot which is a sure ticket to the playoffs.

“ECHO, right now, has 16 points. The only way for them to climb is if they can score a 2-0 on their next match, making their points 19,” stated Midnight. “If it’s only 18, head to head, we can take them on.”

The analyst goes on to explain that Bren Esports will need to win both of their two matches in the final week and at least earn two points per match. However, Bren Esport’s final match is against ECHO. So, either way, one of the two teams will eventually lose points.

Nexplay EVOS still has a chance to raise its points in the regular season as they are scheduled to go against RSG PH on 8th Oct 2021 at 6:00 PM (PHT). It will be interesting to see if the team can do the needful, heading into the playoffs stage for the MPL PH Season 8.
