The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Development League (MDL) is officially coming to the Philippines (PH). Various esports organizations can field aspiring rookies in this league to hone their skills and demonstrate their worthiness of being promoted to the professional league. The MDL PH will serve as a breeding ground for promising amateur players, bolstering the region's dominance in the MLBB esports scene.
The start date for MDL PH Season 1 is yet to be revealed by Moonton. However, according to a previous press conference back in August 2022, the amateur league is set to kick off sometime in the first half of 2023.
MDL PH Season 1 to kick off sometime in 2023
The MLBB amateur esports scene in the Philippines is filled with promising youngbloods looking to show off their skills and get signed to an official pro team. The competition is tough for each amateur as there are only a few pro teams who are part of the MLBB Professional League (MPL), resulting in very limited slots and chances to get recruited for each team.
Aspiring MLBB players who are looking to experience the big leagues will soon make their dreams a reality with the arrival of the MDL PH Season 1 sometime in 2023. This was teased through its official Facebook post on 28th December 2022.
Fans and popular MPL PH personalities flocked to the post and partook in the hype for the upcoming amateur league. However, fans will have to keep their eyes peeled for more updates in the future as Moonton is yet to announce an official date for the start of the MDL PH Season 1.
According to a press conference, Antonio Silva, a member of Moonton’s marketing team, revealed that the tournament may kick off in the first half of 2023.
“We cannot share exactly as of the moment but do know that we are planning out the MDL for now and our target is to launch an event probably by Q1 or Q2,” he said.
It will be interesting to see how much the amateur scene grows once the first season of the MDL officially kicks off.
