Goldy’s entry into the esports industry
In a recent livestream, Goldy was asked about his esports journey and how it all began for him. Responding to this, he revealed that his passion for the game BGMI (formerly PUBG Mobile) played a pivotal role in his entry into the esports industry. “I had my love towards the game BGMI… PUBG Mobile at that time. Apart from that, I wanted to do something in esports,” he said.
Goldy also revealed that prior to his foray into the esports industry in 2018, he had spent a decade working in his family business. However, he had been looking for a way to break away from that line of work and pursue something new on his own. “I read somewhere about esports in a flight, about how exponentially esports is growing in the EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa), NA (North America) regions, Korea, and places like those. So that’s why I also entered esports and walked down the path. ,” he added.
He went on to share that his ultimate goal upon entering the esports industry was “to do the biggest and big thing in India.” With a clear goal in mind, he assembled a team of individuals who he believed could help him achieve this vision. “I made the correct team; everyone will agree to this, even you. A correct team can do wonders in anything. The team was built, and after that, we are here. That’s the journey,” he added.
Goldy is one of the most influential figures in the Indian esports industry. He entered esports in 2018 by joining forces with former PUBG Mobile professional athlete and owner of 8bit Animesh “Thug” Agarwal. Later, 8bit and Team SouL merged to form S8UL Esports, which eventually became arguably the most prominent esports organization in India. Notably, the organization gained international recognition when it won the “Content Group of the Year” award at the Esports Awards 2022.
