Amidst the ongoing controversy between TSM India and GodLike Esports in the Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) community, both esports organizations have released official statements on the current situation.

Arjun "SHADOW" Mandhalkar, who was one of the four players who joined TSM’s BGMI roster in July 2021, has joined GodLike Esports. TSM India claimed that the player was poached by GodLike Esports and that the move happened unprofessionally. GodLike claims that it followed all legal requirements while TSM claims that there has been a breach of contract. Here is everything you need to know.

Kronten says there is “constant slandering”

GodLike Esports founder Chetan “Kronten” Chandgude released a statement saying, “There is constant slandering against GodLike in the media by an organization with whom SHADOW was associated with. The controversy is being created despite there being none. SHADOW legally terminated his contract by sending a termination letter, post which he approached GodLike. We, at GodLike, followed all the legal and ethical procedures while engaging with SHADOW, as he was not bound by any agreement in existence.”

He said that TSM is defaming SHADOW as well as GodLike by releasing personal chats on social media platforms and that it is a violation of privacy. Kronten called out TSM for not taking legal recourse and resorting to social media platforms instead.

He claimed that GodLike is filing a civil and criminal case against anyone releasing private chats on social media and making defamatory statements against GodLike.

TSM’s Director of Mobile shares personal chats online

TSM’s Director of Mobile Jeff "SuiJeneris" Chau revealed chats from the TSM BGMI WhatsApp group where SHADOW is seen asking if he can join other teams and the organization agreed. But it is also seen that TSM told SHADOW that he would not be released for free.

Chau told SHADOW that he confused being loaned out for free as being released for free. SHADOW responded saying that he was told to wait till mid-June and TSM would let him go after that. Chau clarified with him that the organization would loan him for free.

He also added that it is not a player’s job to negotiate a deal and TSM would talk to any interested parties and agree upon a transfer fee. SHADOW claimed that GodLike did not want to go for a buyout and TSM responded that the player is still officially a part of TSM.
