Elliot Gindi, the English voice actor (VA) for Tighnari in Genshin Impact has been alleged of emotional abuse, blackmail, sexism, and engaging in sexual relationships with underage fans. The accusations were revealed after one of Gindi's Twitch and Discord moderators shared screenshots of the controversial conversations that took place between the actor and fans.

Following this, Gindi apologized for his actions and stated that he would be taking a break to undergo therapy. He also confirmed the validity of the majority of the accusations made by the users but denied any alleged involvement with underage fans.

After the initial allegations against Gindi were posted by @FretCore on Twitter, another user @phiotan corroborated his claims, adding that the two were fellow moderators of Gindi’s Discord channel.

Following this, multiple other users also came out with claims supporting the allegations against Gindi. Following the backlash, Gindi responded to the allegations on Twitter - TwitLlonger post.

“I am deeply sorry to those I hurt. It was never my intention to hurt anyone. I tried to keep it above board. I thought everything was consensual and safe. I tried to tell myself I could make it ethical with clear communication and boundaries. I was so wrong and I realized this which is why I tried to come clean to everyone I know, log off and get therapy. To those who believed in me even after I came clean I'm sorry to have let you down. Please do not use this as an opportunity to bash other cast members of the game. No one knew,” he wrote.

He further admitted that the questionable chat logs that were leaked online were legitimate, including those where he threatened to commit suicide if these messages were posted publicly. However, Elliot claimed that he did not knowingly do anything with anyone underage and that he did not disrespect anyone who changed their pronoun.

“I understand what I did was wrong and inappropriate, and to the best of my ability tried to confess as much to those I contacted. I reacted inappropriately to situations where I felt desired, and caused harm to so many people in the process. I understand that my actions have consequences, and am committing myself to accept my responsibility while making the effort to get - and do - better,” he added.

Subsequently after publishing, the voice actor for Genshin Impact altered the entire contents of his Twitter profile to black images. This act, which typically involves changing the profile picture and cover photo to black, is widely recognized as a signal of inactivity on the platform.

Some Genshin Impact VAs also commented on the issue;

Aether (Male Traveler)

Lumine (Female Traveler)

Venti

Raiden Shogun

Yoimiya

The voice director for Genshin Impact, Chris Faiella, also made a statement on Twitter expressing disappointment about the situation and offering support to victims of inappropriate behavior. He is taking action by informing the game's developers, miHoYo (globally known as Hoyoverse), about the matter.

The developers are yet to issue any statements on the matter.
