Geek Fam Nnael Suspended for Unsportsmanlike Behavior in M5 World Championship
The match between the Indonesian team Geek Fam and the Russian team Deus Vult was one of the most chaotic matches in the M5 World Championship. Both teams not only traded blows in the game but also on the big stage as they taunted each other while the fans cheered on. However, one player pushed the limits of taunting in the tournament and was slapped with a hefty punishment. Geek Fam’s loaned jungler Manuel "Nnael" Simbolon was seen flipping a middle finger towards the opponents, prompting Moonton to take action and penalize the said player.
Geek Fam Nnael punished for offensive gesture in M5 World Championship
The clash between Geek Fam and Deus Vult on 5th December unfolded as a captivating spectacle, capturing the audience's focus through an intense taunting and exchange of words on the grand stage of the EVM Convention Center in Quezon City, Philippines.
Tensions reached a boiling point when Mathaios "Kid Bomba" Chatzilakos, the explosive laner for Deus Vult, boldly initiated on-stage taunts as the teams found themselves deadlocked at 1-1. Despite the heated confrontation, Geek Fam emerged victorious, securing the series 2-1 and notably improving its chances of progressing to the knockout stages.
However, as the tension grew, Geek Fam’s jungler Nnael was seen flipping a middle finger towards Deus Vult members. This was seen in one of the short clips posted by Mobile Legends Esports.
Shortly after the clip exploded into popularity, Moonton posted an official statement, suspending Nnael for two matches in the M5 World Championship due to his unsportsmanlike behavior.
“The committee has decided to impose a two-match suspension on GEEK FAM's Nnael. We will take active steps to ensure that all teams are reminded of the rules concerning professionalism,” the post captioned.
Given how Geek Fam has no substitute jungler in its roster, one player may be looking to fill the missing role. It will be interesting to see how Geek Fam will remedy this predicament in its upcoming matches.
