Garena Cancels Free Fire World Series (FFWS) 2021 Due to COVID-19 Concerns
FFWS 2021 scheduled to take place in November has been called off.
Garena has announced that the second Free Fire World Series (FFWS) 2021 tournament which was scheduled to take place in November has been cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns. The organizers stated that their top-priority at the moment was the safety of everyone involved in FFWS 2021, so after careful consideration of all the options they arrived at this difficult decision. The FFWS 2021 Singapore which took place in May earlier this year was a huge success for Garena, as it became the most-viewed esports tournament ever with a peak of over 5.4 million viewers.
Sadly, the second such tournament which was reportedly going to be held in Mexico will not be a possibility any longer. However, the FFWS 2021 is being replaced by various other Free Fire tournaments globally, as stated by a Garena spokesperson to Dot Esports.

The grand Free Fire tournament which was scheduled to take place in November has been called off by Garena following COVID-19 concerns.
According to reports, the second FFWS 2021 tournament was being planned to be held in Mexico, though Garena never came forward with an official announcement confirming this location.
Mexico, the North American country is currently facing the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic. According to JHU CSSE COVID-19 Data, 21,250 new cases have been detected in the country on 25th August, while the seven-day average is almost touching 17,000 new cases.
If the reports are to be believed, Garena probably made the right decision cancelling this tournament. However, a spokesperson has stated that in its place several other Free Fire tournaments will be taking place across the world, certainly not as big as FFWS.
Similar to how the Free Fire Continental Series (FFCS) replaced the cancelled FFWS tournament last year, giving opportunity to three separate regions to crown their individual champions - EMEA, Americas, Asia.
