Garena Announces 2022 Esports Roadmap for Free Fire in India
One big tournament every quarter!
Garena has revealed the 2022 esports circuit for Free Fire in India, featuring four major tournaments with a total prize pool of more than INR 2.7 Crores ($364.9K USD). Each quarter of the year will be featuring one of the four major tournaments, two of these events will provide Indian teams with a chance to qualify for global competitions like Free Fire World Series (FFWC).
All the Free Fire tournaments organized by Garena will have an open qualifiers stage to provide aspiring teams and players a chance to test their skills. Apart from these major tournaments focused entirely towards the competitive side of things, multiple community focussed tournaments are also in the pipeline.
Free Fire 2022 Esports Roadmap for India: Complete Details
Garena has revealed a lot of information about the upcoming Free Fire competitive circuit for India, which involves four major tournaments along with multiple community events.
The 2022 circuit will comprise of two pro seasons, each one consisting of two major tournaments - Free Fire Pro League (FFPL) and Free Fire India Championship (FFIC). The total prize pool for each pro season will be more than INR 1.35 Crore ($182.4K USD).
Garena's four major Free Fire tournaments for India in 2022 (chronological order) are as follows,
Free Fire India Championship 2022 Spring - Chance to qualify for global tournament.
Free Fire Pro League 2022 Summer
Free Fire India Championship 2022 Fall - Chance to qualify for global tournament.
Free Fire Pro League 2022 Winter
One of these major tournaments will take place in every quarter of the year. On top of this, Garena promises that these competitions will be open to all aspiring teams and players, giving everyone the opportunity to compete against the best on the national stage.
More announcements about various smaller-scale community-focussed tournaments are also in the pipeline, information regarding which will be revealed soon.
Free Fire India Championship - Format
The concept of FFIC tournaments is to act as national qualifiers for global Free Fire competitions. It will comprise of the best Free Fire teams from across India, who will be competing for the following,
A prize pool of INR 1 Crore ($135.1K USD).
Title of being the best Free Fire team in India.
An opportunity to represent their country at a global stage.
There are two way in which aspiring teams can qualify for FFIC tournaments,
By achieving a top-six position in the previous season of FFPL tournament.
By fighting through the open qualifiers and achieving a top 12 spot in the closed qualifiers of the FFIC tournament.
Talking about the 2022 competitive season, it will kick off with the FFIC 2022 Spring tournament which will comprise of six directly invited teams that have managed to qualify through the FFPL 2021 Winter.
Free Fire Pro League - Format
The concept of FFPL tournaments is to act as qualifiers for FFIC competitions. It consists of a 18 teams in total, 12 finalists from the previous season of FFIC and top six teams through the open qualifiers.
It will comprise of the best Free Fire teams from across India, who will be competing for the following,
A prize pool of INR 35 Lakhs ($47.3K USD).
Top six teams directly qualify for the next season of FFIC.
Teams placed 7th-12th qualify for the next season of FFPL by skipping the open qualifiers.
Free Fire India Championship 2022 Spring - Format
FFIC 2022 Spring will witness the top six teams from FFPL 2021 Winter being directly seeded into the league stage, the next six teams from FFPL 2021 Winter will qualify directly to the closed qualifiers.
12 teams will make it to the closed qualifiers of FFIC 2022 Spring through the open qualifiers, where they will join the six direct invites who will then compete for the 12 remaining slots in the league stage.
Finally, the top 12 teams from the league stage will qualify for the grand finals of FFIC 2022 Spring.
