Garena reallocates FFWS slots, surprising move leaves India out of the lineup.
Six squads secure spots in the Free Fire World Series 2023, including teams from Brazil and Pakistan.

In a surprising turn of events, the full slot distribution for the highly anticipated Free Fire World Series (FFWS) 2023 has been unveiled, and to the disappointment of many Indian fans, no Indian teams are included. This revelation contradicts a prior announcement by Garena, where it was stated that a team from India, specifically the winner of the Free Fire India Championship (FFIC), would be among the participants in the FFWS.

Garena Omits India's Slot From Free Fire World Series 2023

Just recently, Garena had made waves in the Indian gaming community with a press release promising the return of Free Fire to India and hinting at the country's participation in the FFWS.

However, on September 22, Garena made a sudden announcement regarding slot distribution, leading to the unexpected omission of India from the lineup. Instead, two additional slots were allocated, one each to Indonesia and Vietnam, bringing their total slots to three each. The FFWS is slated to be held in Bangkok from November 10 to 26.

Garena had previously revealed plans to conduct the Free Fire India Championship shortly after the game's relaunch, initially scheduled for September 5. However, the company has postponed the re-release without specifying a new date.

The distribution of slots for the FFWS 2023 is as follows:

  • Brazil: 3 slots

  • LATAM: 3 slots

  • Thailand: 3 slots

  • Indonesia: 3 slots

  • Vietnam: 3 slots

  • MCPS: 1 slot

  • Pakistan: 1 slot

  • MEA: 1 slot

With three slots for Brazil, LATAM, Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam, and one slot each for MCPS, Pakistan, and MEA, the tournament structure seems robust. The FFWS will consist of two phases: the Group Stage from November 10 to 19, followed by the Grand Finals from November 24 to 26. The event will once again be hosted in Bangkok, Thailand, the same venue as the previous edition.
