A former cricketer has entered esports to mentor a PUBG Mobile team!
Mobile Esports is huge in South Asia and Southeast Asia, especially Battle Royales like PUBG Mobile that now seems to be attracting veteran sports professionals. In a huge move, former Sri Lankan cricketing legend Russel Arnold has decided to enter mobile esports, serving as a mentor for Northern Rangers - one of the 12 franchised PUBG Mobile teams that is part of the Singer Esports Premier League 2021 (EPL 2021). In a conversation with AFK Gaming, Raveen Wijayatilake - CEO of Gamer.LK stated that "Russel will be one of the many legends joining the franchised teams."
Cricketing legend Russel Arnold to act as mentor for a PUBG Mobile team
Former Sri Lankan cricketer Russel Arnold who played international cricket for the country from 1997 to 2007, has turned his attention towards PUBG Mobile to mentor young esports athletes and provide proper guidance to them.
The 47-year-old has joined a PUBG Mobile team called Northern Rangers, which is a franchised team in the upcoming Singer Esports Premier League 2021.

EPL 2021 is a PUBG Mobile franchise league featuring a massive LKR 1,000,000 ($5,008 USD) prize pool, scheduled to take place from 28th August to October, final date for the Grand Finals has not been announced yet.
The tournament features 12 franchised PUBG Mobile teams which will be made up of players that qualify through the 'Solo - Open Qualifiers'. A total of 60 PUBG Mobile players will be shortlisted for the 'Team Auction' stage, where teams will bid to recruit them - four players and a substitute.
Once all the teams are set with their respective lineups they will go up against each other in the Playoffs, only the top nine teams will move ahead from here to the Super Weekends and then the Grand Final.
