SEA Icon Series 2021: Summer Super Cup Grand Finals Recap

Game One

At the 16-minute mark, EVOS completely took control of the match, thanks to their highly aggressive yet well-executed team fights. In a desperate attempt, ONE Team forced their way into stealing an Elder Infernal Drake at the 19-minute mark to which they succeeded at the cost of them being wiped out. EVOS Took this golden opportunity to immediately end the game and secure their first win.

XianYo stole the dragon at the cost of his whole squad’s life.

Game Two

ONE Team’s fight plan is boosting Ninja7’s Ezreal by leaving him to farm all by himself, allowing him to claim all XP and gold in the dragon lane. This allowed ONE Team to focus more on securing objectives easily with SUI, the team’s support Janna. EVOS Esports went busy in the Baron lane, neglecting their own dragon lane open for a backdoor. Thipper managed to arrive on time but given how ahead Ninja7 is in terms of gold income, there was nothing he could do. ONE Team secured their win in the second match.

Ninja7 had all the resources he needed to win his own lane.

Game Three

EVOS Esports kept making a lot of misplays during the third match, putting them in a very bad spot. ONE Team abused this opportunity and easily secured jungle objectives and turret takedowns. EVOS managed to stall until late game, but they never got the chance to recover. ONE Team ended the match with another victory and a massive 21 kills against EVOS Esports who only secured 10 kills.

A huge kill gap for ONE Team Esports.

Game Four

Both teams were fairly even during the early game. However, a crucial team fight at the 10-minute mark allowed EVOS to collapse onto ONE Team and took down three of their opponent’s squad. This proved fatal for ONE Team as EVOS now has overall control of the map. A crucial wipe-out from EVOS gave them an opportunity to close the game at the 17-minute mark. The match ended with EVOS Esports winning the match and secured another tie-breaker match.

A single mistake from ONE Team caused them to lose.

Game Five

Both teams were very cautious in the final deciding match. Every team fight barely gave any advantage for each team due to no one actually dying. At the 18-minute mark, ONE Team secured Baron Buff, giving them a huge advantage in terms of pushing power. However, a crucial dragon pit fight occurred with EVOS Esports winning and securing the elder dragon buff. This put ONE Team at a huge disadvantage and forced them to play passively. EVOS didn’t waste time and closed the match after 26 minutes of intense match and secured the crown of champions for the SEA Icon Series 2021: Summer Super Cup.

EVOS Esports won the grand finals.

It was a long yet interesting match with both teams capitalizing on each other’s misplays. However, EVOS Esports emerged as the first SEA Icon Series 2021 champions while ONE Team will have to settle for second place.
