The entire country of Nepal was awaiting the arrival of its local champions, DRS Gaming, who were the runners-up of the recently concluded world championship - PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2022 (PMGC).

They were welcomed back home with a huge gathering of fans and media outside the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal which included the presence of the Mayor as well, Balendra Shah, who rode along with the players on the back of a jeep during the public rally.

A huge banner was spotted in front of the jeep congratulating the players for their performance at the PMGC 2022, where they finished second and walked away with more than $292,000 USD (INR 2,38,73,628) in prize money.

DRS Gaming receives a massive welcome back home from fans after finishing as the runners up of PMGC 2022

The world championship for PUBG Mobile recently took place in Southeast Asia across Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Jakarta, Indonesia where the Nepali esports organization, DRS Gaming, witnessed a stellar run which resulted in them placing second.

Additionally, DRS Gaming, also became the most successful PUBG Mobile team from South Asia with its performance at the PMGC 2022, breaking the record for most prize money won by a team from the region in a single PUBG Mobile tournament.

Orange Rock from India did come close by placing second at the PUBG Mobile World League 2020: East, but despite being an international tournament it was not a global competition and lacked representation from multiple regions.

It was not an easy journey for DRS Gaming at the PMGC 2022. It placed sixth as part of Group Red and fell down to the Survival Stage, where the team racked a total of 114 points to grab the seventh spot and made it through to the Last Chance Stage.

After fighting through another 12 matches, DRS secured a total of 111 points and squeezed through to the Grand Finals and finished fourth on the leaderboard.

Here, DRS Gaming played its heart out and with a total of 158 points to its name and secured a second-place finish to create history that was celebrated by many across the South Asian region.

This achievement was recognized by notable politicians from Nepal like Pradip Paudel - Central Committee Member of Nepali Congress Party, Gagan Thapa - General Secretary of the Nepali Congress, Balendra Shah - Mayor of Kathmandu, amongst others.

DRS Gaming did spread the message across all its social media pages about the arrival of is PUBG Mobile team returning to Nepal, encouraging fans to show up for the welcome ceremony and celebrate this achievement.

The fans and media obliged by gathering in large numbers outside the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal to welcome the players, praising and hyping them with multiple chants and slogans.
