Coach Pakbet Reveals How Omega Esports Overcame Team Chemistry Issues With E2MAX
The third week of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines (PH) Season 9 saw Omega Esports finally break its losing streak after taking down ONIC PH and Nexplay EVOS. Omega Esports’ coach, Jomie “Pakbet” Abalos, revealed that one of its members, Patrick James “E2MAX” Caidic was having personal issues that may have affected the team’s performance during the previous weeks of the MPL PH Season 9. This forced the team to temporarily make adjustments to its lineup until the third week when the team finally broke its losing streak. According to the Omega Esports coach, E2MAX trained hard with the main squad and worked out the problems with their team chemistry.
E2MAX’s personal problems affected his team chemistry with Omega Esports
With a solid two win streak from Omega Esports in the third week of the MPL PH Season 9, the team’s coach Pakbet revealed why the team had been struggling in the previous weeks.
According to a report from , Pakbet revealed that the team had to make adjustments in the past few weeks due to its mid laner, E2MAX, struggling with personal issues which affected the team’s performance.
“It started during the 2nd week, Thursday should be our last practice. E2MAX told us that he doesn’t want to play,” Pakbet said. The coach reportedly added that E2MAX had been dealing with a lot of family problems. This resulted in Omega Esports fielding its amateur standout Cesar Jefferson “AMETHYST” Santos in the meantime.
“I said, ‘ok then, if you can’t do it then I’ll send in Amethyst.’,’” The coach explained. “Take a break for now, it’s ok. Even if we lose, as long as you get to rest well.”
Despite a commendable attempt from Omega Esports, the team suffered a 0-2 sweep defeat against RSG PH in the second week of the MPL PH Season 9.
E2MAX fixes chemistry issues with Ch4knu and Raizen to break losing streak
After a disappointing defeat against RSG PH, Omega Esports had to recalibrate its lineup in hopes of coming back stronger for the third week. According to Pakbet, E2MAX talked to them saying that he is ready to return to the frontlines once again.
“At first, I said ‘Are you really ok? Can you play?’ because they never really connected with Ch4knu for two weeks. How can we fix that?” stated the Omega Esports coach.
Pakbet eventually decided to give E2MAX another shot at redemption. Despite Amethyst slated to be the one to play in scrim sessions, the coaches decided to switch him with E2MAX.
“So Amethyst was still the one playing on Monday (Scrims), so when night came, we tried E2MAX. When we played scrim on Monday, our gameplay was so smooth, so we said we should try E2MAX, for the whole week,” Pakbet said.
To fix it’s team chemistry with the two crucial members of Omega Esports - Joshua "Ch4knu" Mangilog and Dean Christian “Raizen” Samagui, the coach tasked E2MAX to play ranked games with the two players to polish their chemistry.
“I told Raizen, Ch4knu, and E2MAX, that the three should play rank games together to build chemistry. Because, they never connect before. But now, it’s ok,” the Omega Esports coach added.
Breaking its losing streak may have significantly raised Omega Esports’ morale in the MPL PH Season 9. The team is looking to keep its momentum going in the upcoming matches.
