Coach Duckeyyy Thinks MLBB Should Recalibrate Its Backdoor Protection System
Bren Esports upsets Blacklist International with a 2-1 score in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines (PH) Season 10. The M2 World Champions have moved to 6th place in the regular season leaderboard with 16 points in total. Through a post-match press conference, Bren Esports’ head coach Francis "Duckeyyy" Glindro shared his thoughts regarding the team’s previous matches where it lost due to “minionless” backdoors. According to the coach, something may need to be done to prevent the three-man backdoor executed by ECHO from happening again. For blacklist International’s five-man push, however, he thinks it’s only fair since it was a squad push unlike the previous one.
Duckeyyy commented on ECHO and Blacklist International’s backdoor outplay
The previous match between Bren Esports and ECHO on 17th September saw an epic backdoor play from the trio Benedict “Bennyqt” Gonzalez, Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno, and Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera. What made this outplay unique is that the trio did not care to bring in minions with them and simply charged in and tanked any damage coming from the Nexus and give Bennyqt’s Beatrix enough time to close the game.
Bren Esports somehow couldn’t escape this event from happening as the same incident happened against Blacklist International. Only this time, it was a five-man and no minion push.
Through a post-match press conference, the team’s head coach Duckeyyy stated that teams taking down the Nexus without minions isn’t exactly “unfair” as it’s part of the game. However, changes may need to be made to minimize these kinds of outplays.
“I don’t think it was unfair, it was just really unexpected. I personally feel that the game should be calibrated properly from now on,” stated the head coach. “What happened yesterday [against ECHO], I was a bit bitter at that but what happened previously [against Blacklist] that was ok.”
He added that the five-man push made by Blacklist International without minions is reasonable as any MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) game would consider this fair.
“What happened yesterday, that was just a three-man push. I don’t think that’s right,” Duckeyyy explained.
Despite being bitter about the backdoor defeat against ECHO, he clarified that he is over it and is looking to improve the team moving forward to avoid these unexpected outplays from happening.
“I accept the loss yesterday… If the game allows it, then we can’t question it,” stated the Bren Esports coach.
Bren Esports is looking to keep its momentum going against RSG PH on 24th September at 2:30 PM (PHT). Blacklist International will have to try to reclaim the top one spot as it will face ONIC PH on 23rd September at 5:00 PM (PHT).
