BloodThirstyKings’ (BTK) team captain Michael “MobaZane” Cosgun revealed that ECHO’s former pro player Jason “Jay” Rafael Torculas (also known as Jaymeister) will join the team as its new Mid Laner. In a surprising turn of events, Jay travelled to the United States (US) at the same time BTK was looking for a new mage player. MobaZane also confirmed that the substitute player for the Realme Showmatch Kier “Ichiji” Sambajon shall not be joining the team for the upcoming season of the North America Community Tournament (NACT). The NA event shall also serve as a qualifier for the upcoming M4 World Championship.
Sibol Medalist Jay returns to the MLBB esports scene under BTK
Jay is one of the most iconic veterans in the MLBB competitive scene. He was a part of the Sibol squad in the 2019 Southeast Asia (SEA) Games and claimed a Gold Medal in the esports category. The pro player then joined ONIC Philippines (PH) as its team captain for three seasons before shifting to ECHO for the Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) PH Season 8. Jay’s career under ECHO was short lived as he was released on 7th Nov 2021.
Through a recent livestream by MobaZane, it was revealed that BTK has acquired Jay as one of its new Mage players. According to the team captain “it just happened that way that he randomly just moved to the US as soon as we were looking for a mage, things just worked out.”
He added that “He [Jay] reached out to Zia, talking about how we needed a mage, I believe.”
Back on 17th June, Jay also hinted that he was moving overseas and had even met former Nexplay EVOS coach John “Zico” Michael Dizon at the airport. The coach was on his way to Cambodia to join Burn x Flash in its journey in the MLBB esports scene.
BTK’s Ian "FwydChickn" Hohl also shared his thoughts about the new Mid Laner. Since Jay has just recently moved to the US, he may not be able to participate in all the matches for the upcoming NACT event. “He just moved to the US so we’re respecting his time if he wants to spend it with family and whatnot.”
Fans may see significant improvements to BTK’s performance in upcoming tournaments considering it has now acquired one of the most experienced MLBB pro players from the Philippines.
