Bren Esports’ coach Francis "Duckeyyy” Glindro responds to hate messages that he and his team received amidst the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines (PH) Season 8. According to the coach’s Facebook post, the team has been receiving negative messages regarding its subpar performance in the MPL PH Season 8. Duckeyyy responded to these hate comments, defending his team by warning the haters. This isn’t the first time fans have shown toxicity towards the teams in the MPL PH Season 8. ONIC PH had a similar encounter during the re-draft issue in the fifth week of the MPL PH.

Bren Esports’s coach Duckeyyy warns haters through a Facebook post

The M2 World Champion, Bren Esports, is currently on the brink of elimination as the team sits at the 7th spot with only 14 points in the regular season. The team will need to push itself hard to win the seventh week if they want to secure a lower bracket spot in the playoffs.

While most fans take this as a healthy challenge for their favorite team, some have been harassing Bren Esports’ pro players through hateful messages. This was revealed by Coach Duckeyyy as he warned the haters about their toxic behavior through a Facebook post on 4th Oct 2021.

“I have been receiving tons of hate messages, and some of them are threats directed to me and my players,” stated Duckeyyy.

The coach added that everyone has the right to criticize the team’s subpar performance in the MPL PH Season 8. However, if the toxicity continues, he won’t hesitate to “take on each one of you if you ever threaten my players again.”

Bren Esports had a solid run in the previous week, earning four consecutive wins before they eventually dropped with a 0-2 loss against Omega Esports in the sixth week of the MPL. This led the fans to question the team’s recovery from such a predicament, more so given the fact that Bren Esports only has two remaining matches - one against ECHO and the final match against Blacklist International.

ONIC PH’s experience with toxic fans

ONIC PH also encountered a similar situation during its re-draft issue with Omega Esports during the MPL PH Season 8 Week 5. The teams encountered a bug where ONIC PH intentionally picked Aulus. However, instead of Aulus showing up, it was the hero Bane that was locked in the drafting phase.

The issue took more than two hours to resolve before eventually settling for a complete redraft. This upset some of the fans, as they thought that Omega Esports was at a disadvantage due to the unexpected redraft.

According to ONIC PH, haters started sending nasty messages to the pro players as well as their family members.

Bren Esports is scheduled to open up the seventh and final week of the MPL PH Season 8 with a match against ECHO on 9th Oct 2021 at 4:00 PM (PHT). It will be interesting to see if the M2 World Champions can redeem themselves and secure a spot in the playoffs.
