The M3 World Champions, Blacklist International have added yet another impressive feat to their list of achievements, earning the privilege to represent the Philippines in the upcoming 31st Southeast Asia (SEA) Games. The team defeated the fan-favorite Nexplay EVOS in the grand finals of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Sibol Qualifiers Phase 2 with an impressive match score of 4-1.
Though Nexplay EVOS also put forth an impressive showing, it was no match for Blacklist International’s strategic prowess, well-disciplined drafting, and map dominance. Blacklist International shall now participate in the upcoming 31st SEA Games under as SIBOL's official team in hopes of earning a gold medal for the Philippines.
Blacklist International proves they are near unstoppable
While Blacklist International undoubtedly dominated the grand finals of the MLBB SIBOL Qualifiers Phase 2, it is also worth noting that Nexplay EVOS put up a much better showing than what was expected.
Throughout the match, Blacklist International’s drafting phase was focused on preventing Nexplay EVOS from using their signature heroes and setting up a good team composition for the M3 World Champions’ Ultimate Bonding Experience (UBE) strategy.
Despite all odds, the Nexplay EVOS squad managed to land a blow, winning game three thanks to an unexpected Lord steal from Kenneth “CADENZA” Castro. Two noteworthy rookies who also displayed impressive mastery of their playstyle were Rainiel “URESHII” Logronio and Marius “DONUT” Tan.
However, Blacklist International was clinical throughout the rest of the series and underlined their credentials as the reigning champions.
Fans celebrate Blacklist International as representatives for the upcoming 31st SEA Games
As the tournament concluded with Blacklist International earning the honor of representing the Philippines in the upcoming 31st SEA Games, fans were quick to celebrate this well-earned victory.
Even fellow esports pro players were impressed by the team’s performances since last year. ONIC PH’s star player Karl Mico “Mico” Quitlong tweeted that the dynamic duo Johnmar "OhMyV33NUS" Villaluna and Danerie "Wise" James Del Rosario can definitely spearhead their team into becoming champions. He referenced a rap line from one of the Filipino rappers Christopher "Shehyee" John Rosales Ongkiko.
While this victory is definitely worth celebrating, Blacklist International’s fight is far from over. The team will now prepare to defend its championship title in the MPL PH Season 9 which kicks off in February while also setting its eyes on the upcoming 31st SEA Games, which takes place this May.
