Blacklist International, the defending champions, defeated RRQ Akira in the M4 World Championship playoffs stage, earning a 3-1 victory. As a result of the win, RRQ Akira has been sent to the lower bracket and Blacklist International will face RRQ Hoshi in the upper bracket on January 11th. In the other upper bracket match, ONIC Esports will face ECHO on January 12th.
Following the victory, Blacklist International expressed gratitude to their fans who attended the match in Indonesia. Jonmar "OhMyV33NUS" Villaluna, a player on Blacklist International, also thanked the fans for their support and said it was important to have their support, especially since the team was not playing in their home country.
Blacklist International outwits RRQ Akira to keep upper-bracket contention
The defending champions Blacklist International faced off against Brazilian team RRQ Akira in a cracking upper bracket semifinal. Blacklist International dominated the first game of the best-of-three series, winning 15-3 and followed it up by winning the second game 15-9. In the third game, RRQ Akira managed to prevent Blacklist International from sweeping the series with a 14-5 victory. However, Blacklist International ultimately won the series by taking the fourth game with a score of 19-4.
Blacklist squad expressed their gratitude for their fan’s support
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) fans from around the world flocked to Indonesia to witness their favorite teams compete in the M4 World Championship. A portion of these fans cheered for Blacklist International throughout the tournament.
In response to this, the defending champions shared a message to its fans who made the effort of travelling far and wide just to cheer for them live on the big stage.
“It makes me proud that the fans really made effort, especially those who have come a long way,” said the team’s head coach Kristoffer Ed "BON CHAN" Ricaplaza. “It’s also one of our motivations… that we can’t let them down and we can make them happy.”
“For me, I’m super duper mega happy that there are fans that make so much effort just to support us, especially that we are not in our home court so every support that we can get is very important,” said Blacklist International’s iconic roamer Jonmar "OhMyV33NUS" Villaluna.
“Thank you for your support, we really appreciate you very much,” said the team’s veteran Gold Laner Kiel "OHEB" Soriano.
Blacklist International will have a short break and will be back in action on 12th January against the fan-favorite RRQ Hoshi at 7:00 PM (PHT).
