As the back-to-back Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines (PH) champions, the stakes are high for Blacklist International. Not only will the team try to defend its championship title but it will also have to come up with fresh new strategies that fit its new roster due to the unavailability of its star players Jhonmar "OhMyV33nus" Villaluna and Danerie "Wise" Rosario. Blacklist International’s co-owner and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tier 1 Entertainment, Tryke Gutierrez, posted a vlog on his official YouTube channel giving fans a sneak peek into how the team prepares for the upcoming MPL PH Season 9.

A sneak peek at how Blacklist International prepares for the upcoming MPL PH Season 9

Given the magnitude of Blacklist International’s achievements last year, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the team aims for even bigger achievements in future esports events. As Tryke Gutierrez gives a tour of the organization’s base of operations, fans can catch a glimpse of the MLBB Blacklist International squad playing a scrim session.

He stated that one of the big factors that make his team quite formidable in their own field is that they are given their own space to train and focus without any disturbances.

“In order to prepare them to succeed you need to let them focus and you let them work on their habits, their routines, and discipline,” stated Tryke.

He added that despite his desire to make content featuring his teams, he still values their privacy and training sessions. Giving them their own space to focus and fully commit to their goals is one of the key aspects in developing champions that can take on the toughest of challenges.

As Tryke observed the team having its scrim session, he revealed that he is quite excited to see more from the team’s assassin playstyle.

The team is widely known for its Ultimate Bonding Experience (UBE) strategy and its unique choice of team compositions. The team has always avoided using assassin heroes as much as possible. It was not until the acquisition of the amateur player, Kent Xavier “KEVIER” Lopez, that the team decided to play a new strategy revolving around assassin heroes.

“We haven't seen this yet, Blacklist International with assassins during the era of Oheb and Edward,” stated Tryke.

Blacklist International’s main goal is to secure its second world championship title

After observing the team’s training, Tryke proceeded to discuss the team’s goals for this year. According to him, winning three consecutive championship titles in the MPL PH would be commendable but the main goal is to win the upcoming M4 World Championship.

“As what BON CHAN said, one of the goals is to three-peat (MPL PH) but the bigger goal for us is back-to-back world championship,” stated Tryke.

It was also revealed in the video that despite the team not having its star players OhMyV33nus and Wise, widely known as the V33Wise duo, Blacklist International is still determined to win a championship title and prove that it is still at peak performance despite its roster revamp.

According to Tryke, the team’s head coach BON CHAN revealed the team may struggle in the first half of the season due to having to explore new strategies such as the assassin playstyle. He added that the fans may not be seeing the UBE strategy that often in the upcoming MPL PH Season 9 as the team is looking for its new identity.

While fans are yet to see Blacklist International’s new playstyle in action, the upcoming MPL PH Season 9 will be an interesting tournament to look forward to given the number of changes all participating teams have made to their rosters.
