Perhaps the most popular mobile game in India, Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), has been removed from the Google Play Store in India. The reasons for the removal are not known at the moment. Krafton's other mobile Battle Royale title, NEW STATE Mobile is still available for download for Android devices.

At the time of writing, the game is still available for Apple Devices in the iOS App Store.

BGMI unexpectedly removed from Google Play Store

Many BGMI players from across the country are in for a surprise when they find out that BGMI has unexpectedly been removed from the Google Play Store. Recently, the game had collaborated with K-Pop Group Black Pink to host a virtual in-game concert.

No search results are being displayed to the Android users upon searching for BGMI on the platform's native app store.

Neither a searching for "BGMI" nor a search for "Battlegrounds Mobile India" shows the app on the Play Store

Clicking on the "Get it from Google Play" button on the official BGMI website also throws up a URL not found error, indicating that the game is currently unavailable on the Play Store.

Error message is displayed when we navigate to the game's Play Store page through BGMI's official website

However, existing users who have the game installed on their android devices are currently still able to play the game without any issues.

This doesn't seem to be a technical issue with BGMI, as players using iOS devices can still access Krafton's flagship title for India. Given BGMI's sudden removal, numerous rumors and speculations have flooded the internet, with several players indicating that the game has been banned in the country.

The reasons for the removal of BGMI from the Play Store have not surfaced so far, as neither Krafton nor Google have come forward with any explanation on the matter. The developers are yet to acknowledge the matter on their social media handles at the time of writing.

AFK Gaming has reached out to Krafton for comment on the game's removal from the platform and will update the article if or when we get a response on the matter.
