Amit Shares How His and Players’ Mindset Changed After Joining Team SouL
Team SouL’s Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) coach Amit “Amit” Dubey recently discussed how joining the team changed his approach to competitive gaming. He noted that while everything was similar between his previous team Chemin Esports and Team SouL, he lacked the exposure in his previous team. After joining Team SouL, Amit, and his fellow players adopted a new mindset, setting specific goals for each tournament they participated in. Despite facing unexpected challenges in one event, the team has been able to achieve most of its goals and learned valuable lessons from its setbacks.
Amit shares his experience with Team SouL
In a recent livestream, a viewer asked Amit how his life has changed after he joined Team SouL. In response, Amit stated that when he was a part of Chemin Esports, he lacked exposure, although everything else was similar to what he experienced in Team SouL.
Amit revealed that when he was a member of Chemin Esports, ranking second in tournaments felt disappointing to him and his team. However, after joining Team SouL, he and the players adopted a different mindset. He stated that the team realized it was not possible to win every tournament, and obsessing over it was futile. He added that the team set specific goals for each tournament it participated in, and so far, it has been able to achieve most of them. However, Amit did mention that there was one tournament in particular, Upthrust Esports India Rising 2022, where the team faced some unexpected challenges that prevented it from qualifying. Despite this setback, Amit noted that all of their other events had gone well.
Amit explained that facing at least one upset is crucial as it allows you to learn from your mistakes and improve your performance. He noted that when his team faced an upset in a tournament, it opened its eyes and made it realize it needed to make changes. Amit added that before the setback, Team SouL was content with consistently securing second or third position in events, but the experience motivated it to aim for higher goals and work harder to achieve them. “A lot of people told us to stop playing, stop coaching, leave players, and the old team was better than us as it used to at least qualify. I believe that upset was important for us,” he added.
Since its inception in March 2022, Team SouL has put on an incredible performance and shown a massive improvement over time. After winning the prestigious BGMI Pro Series, it cemented itself as one of the best BGMI teams in the country.
