Animesh “Thug” Agarwal is a very well known personality in the Indian Gaming Community (IGC). He is the founder and owner of Team 8Bit, a Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) team and a co-owner of S8UL Esports, an organisation boasting multiple content creators and streamers under its banner. He is also the founder and CEO of 8Bit Creatives, a talent management company, managing multiple gamers across India.

In a recent livestream, Thug, talked about multiple esports organisations shutting down due to no long term vision.

Thug says multiple esports organisations may soon shut down

Thug has been a part of the esports scene since 2018 and has greatly contributed to the scene's success in the Indian region. He has successfully managed to grow multiple esports organisations like S8UL Esports, Team 8Bit and Talent Management companies like 8Bit Creatives.

In a recent live stream, Thug talked about esports organisations shutting down due to a lack of vision and said, “There are many esports organisations who are going to be shut down very soon. The organisations came in with the intention of making quick money and then disappearing, but neither these organisations were able to make money and were also unable to gain any respect from others. It is good that such organisations are getting shut down, it is very important for the ecosystem. Other esports organisations who came in with a long term vision for the future are here to stay.”

Since 2019, the esports scene has had significant growth. The number of esports organisations has increased since the unban of BGMI in May 2023 and with the introduction of PC titles like Valorant and Counter Striker 2 (CS2), the number is constantly growing. There have been multiple esports organisations who have come into the esports scene to establish themselves but have been unable to do so and have shut down operations due to financial instability or lack of planning for the future.

Thug had also talked about how S8UL is not a profitable business for him as of now, since brands are not willing to pay a higher amount and he is not willing to undervalue the organisation by taking small sums of money. He had said that the business which makes profits is the talent management agency (8Bit Creatives) that he has built.
