League of Legends: Wild Rift, a mobile MOBA title developed by Riot Games has won the 2021 Apple Design Award in the Innovation category. Wild Rift has now reached another milestone following its successful launch in North America and Europe in March 2021. The 2021 Apple Design Award is one of the most prestigious award ceremonies hosted by one of the biggest multinational tech companies, Apple Inc. The awards ceremony was held during the Worldwide Developers Conference 2021 to honor the most creative and high-quality apps in the App Store. Among all the candidates for the 2021 Apple Design Award, Wild Rift won the Innovation Award along with the music app NaadSadhana.
The 2021 Apple Design Award winners were announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference (2021), which was held from June 7 until June 11, 2021. There were six categories; Inclusivity, Delight and Fun, Interaction, Social Impact, Visuals and Graphics, and Innovation. These apps showed a combination of creativity, design, and innovation. Apple selected one app and one game as winners in each category.
This award is given to Riot Games' mobile MOBA title Wild Rift for its ability to deliver the PC gaming experience on a mobile platform through the use of easy-to-use controls, an auto-targeting system, and customizable camera settings.
NaadSadhana, an all-in-one, studio-quality music app, also won the Innovation Award along with LoL WR. The Indian music app is known for its easy-to-use features that allow aspiring artists to perform and publish with just a few simple taps on their mobile devices.

In October 2020, when the official open beta was released in selected regions, Wild Rift was flooded with players. This resulted in the game being the most downloaded iOS app in all the countries that receive open beta access. Currently, LoL WR continues to grow, gaining 2.9 Million installs during its debut in North America and Europe in March 2021.
