AWC 2021 will return after being canceled because of the pandemic last year. Tencent announced its return in a recent press release. 16 teams will compete at the event starting June 19, 2021; Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Korea, Mainland China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, and Brazil for the title of World Champions and a piece of the $500,00 USD prize pool. Arena of Valor World Cup 2021 Details

The Arena of Valor World Cup 2021 has been announced after it was canceled last year due to the pandemic. The online tournament format for the upcoming tournament includes sixteen top-ranked teams from nine different regions competing for the title of World Champions.

The tournament will begin on June 19 and conclude on July 18, 2021. More information about the participating teams and live stream links will be released at a later date.

Arena of Valor World Cup 2021 Tournament Format and Schedule 

Group Stage June 19 - 27

  • 16 teams will be divided into 2 groups of 4 teams.
  • Teams will compete in a round-robin Bo3 Format.
  • Each win will grant 1 point.
  • The top 2 teams in each group will proceed to the Playoffs.
  • The bottom 2 teams will be eliminated from the tournament.

Playoffs June 30 - July 18

  • Double Elimination Bracket (except the one-off grand finals)
  • Round 1 is played in a Bo5 Format.
  • All other matches are played in a Bo7 Format.

Arena of Valor World Cup 2021 Prize Pool Distribution

Here are the following prizes for the top 4 teams in the AWC 2021;

  • 1st Prize - $200,000 USD
  • 2nd Prize - $110,000 USD
  • 3rd Prize - $70,000 USD
  • 4th Prize - $30,000 USD

The annual competition invites the best Arena of Valor teams from around the globe to compete for the title of world champion. The previous AWC 2019 was won by Team Vietnam with over 74.5 million cumulative views and over 855,000 peak concurrent viewers. In the wake of the global pandemic, AWC 2020 was canceled. With the return of the annual tournament, it will be interesting to see if Tencent can recapture the hype that the previous world cup delivered.
