Oxygen Esports Signs Indian PUBG Mobile Player RonaK

Harpreet Singh “RonaK” Janjuha has officially joined Oxygen Esports. The organization made the announcement on Instagram earlier today, and it seems like PUBG Mobile is set to make a comeback in India. After three months of being banned in India, South Korean company Bluehole is working on a workaround to bring the title back to one of its biggest markets.

RonaK is among the most successful players in the Indian PUBG Mobile scene. He started off his career at Team SouL which featured other high-profile players like Owais, Mortal and Viper. After his time at SouL, he joined Xspark before moving on to Fnatic. He was benched often at Fnatic and didn’t get the opportunities he got at SouL. RonaK left Fnatic right before PUBG Mobile was banned in India. His esports career peaked in 2019 with wins at the PMIS Champions 2019, PMCO Indian Champions 2019 and PMAS Champions 2019. His move to Oxygen Esports will enable him to compete in PUBG Mobile India, a revamped India-only version of PUBG Mobile, which is yet to be released.

Oxygen Esports is an New England-based organization with a successful history in Rainbow Six Siege. The Siege team has been successful in multiple A-tier tournaments. Oxygen is also invested in other games like Hearthstone and Rocket League. The interest in PUBG Mobile in India is an exciting move for the subcontinent. It will be interesting to see which other players are picked up for the PUBG Mobile roster by Oxygen. Other gaming organizations who pulled out of the PUBG Mobile scene after the ban will be looking to make a comeback with the ban being lifted on the game.

Return of PUBG Mobile

It is expected that PUBG Mobile will be making a comeback by the end of this year. Developers have already teased the return of the game in the subcontinent, and it is only a matter of time until we get a release date. The game will feature a client exclusive to India, but players who have progress in the global version of the game will be able to use their existing ids.

All in-game items will be transferred to the new PUBG Mobile India variant. It is unknown if any changes will be made to the core gameplay or if the new game will be in sync with its global counterpart. Indian authorities are yet to approve the game but going by the recent signings and increased interest by esports organizations; an approval is very likely.
