The entire BGMI community is concerned about whether the game will make a comeback or not.

Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) has been banned in India following the Indian government’s directive. The game was removed from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store on Thursday evening leading to the disappointment of many including pro players, influencers, and fans across the country. Krafton’s BGMI recently surpassed 100 million users which made it India’s most popular battle royale game. The BGMI esports scene was reaching heights as the recently BGMI Masters Series was being broadcasted on television. The sudden ban of the game is surely going to affect the BGMI esports community.

Will BGMI make a comeback in India’s Play Store and App Store?

Currently, it is unknown if BGMI will make a comeback in India. The developers will need to adhere to the government’s regulations to enable a path to make a comeback.

According to Reuters, the Indian government banned Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) under section 69 A of the Indian IT law. The same law was used to impose the ban on Free Fire in February 2022 and PUBG Mobile in September 2020. The recent developments suggest that the decision of banning the game has been taken in the interest of national security.

Krafton reportedly said that it is currently investigating the exact situation regarding the suspension of Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) from the two major app stores in India. The biggest concern in the BGMI community right now is whether the game will be unbanned or not. Krafton officials and the Indian government are meeting with each other on BGMI’s current situation.

BGMI was developed as an app that complied with all the policies of the Indian government. Despite this, the ban has been imposed on the popular Battle Royale game. As of now, nothing can be said about whether BGMI will be unbanned in the future or not. The official APK link on the official website of Battlegrounds Mobile India has also stopped working, and in-game purchases have also been restricted.

The effect of BGMI’s suspension from Google Play Store and Apple App Store has reflected on Krafton’s share price which dropped by more than 9% on Friday. In May 2022, Krafton revealed that it generated $405.5 Million Dollar revenue for Q1 2022.

The current developments around Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) don’t look good and it is still unknown whether the game will make its comeback on Google Play Store and Apple App Store or not. The official update on the ongoing meeting between Krafton and the Government of India is yet to come. It would be interesting to see what’s next in the destiny of the BGMI esports community.
