Highlights
Apex Legends Mobile officially supports the Xbox and PlayStation controllers along with a host of other controllers.
Not all third-party controllers are supported by the game and you may face compatibility issues.
Support for more controllers will be provided in the future to extend compatibility.

Apex Legends Mobile launched earlier this year and a lot of players are unable to play the game with a controller. Even though official support for controllers is available, a lot of players are unable to connect their controllers. Not every controller is supported but if you have a PlayStation or Xbox controller, they are supported by default. A lot of other controllers work on Apex Legends Mobile even if they are not officially supported. Respawn Entertainment will be extending support for more controllers as time passes.

Fix Apex Legends Mobile Controller Not Working

Here is a guide to correctly pair an Xbox or PlayStation controller. If you have other controllers the steps are the same and you simply need to press the appropriate pairing buttons when you need to.

iOS

  1. For an Xbox controller, press the Xbox button to turn on your Xbox controller. Press and hold the Connect button for a few seconds to put your controller into pairing mode.
For a PlayStation Controller, with your controller turned off, press and hold the PS and Share buttons at the same time until the light bar begins to flash.

  2. On your mobile device, go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn on Bluetooth. Stay on this screen until you've completed the steps to pair your controller

  3. Place your accessory in discovery mode and wait for it to appear on your device. If you can't see it or aren't sure how to make it discoverable, check the instructions that came with your controller or contact the manufacturer.

  4. To pair, tap your controller name when it appears on the screen.

Android

  1. On your Android phone, swipe down from the top to pull down the notification bar

  2. Hold down the Bluetooth icon.

  3. Make sure your Bluetooth is toggled On.

  4. Your device should start scanning automatically

  5. Turn on the Xbox One controller by holding the Xbox button. Press and hold the Connect button for a few seconds to put your controller into pairing mode.
If you have a PlayStation controller, with your controller turned off, press and hold the PS and Share buttons at the same time until the light bar begins to flash.

  6. On your Android device, click on the Pair button

  7. Your device should connect to your controller in a few moments

If your controller still does not work, try reaching out to EA’s support channels for Apex Legends Mobile.
