Supercell’s Clash of Clans is still going strong with millions of players jumping in to play every month. The devs recently launched the Town Hall 16 update where they introduced numerous additions to the game in the form of new structures such as the Blacksmith building and defenses along with a new troop called Root Raiders. With that out of the way, they also brought in a few fan-requested features which excited numerous fans. Many fans are wondering if the devs finally added the ability to attack a player’s own base with this new patch and that is exactly what we are going to answer with this guide. Let’s jump right in!

Can You Attack Your Own Base in Clash of Clans?

The good news is that players now have the ability to attack their own village or base since the Town Hall 16 update. This works through the game’s friendly attack mode that you can use in your clan.

challenge

All you need to do to enable it is to bring up the chat logs from the left side of your screen, click on the “Challenge” icon, and post a friendly challenge in your clan’s chat. Once it is posted all you need to do is click on Attack, select your troop layout, and test out your base’s defenses yourself.

Keep in mind that while you are now allowed to attack your own base, posting it in the clan chat is the only way to do so and as a result, your base might also get hit by other players before you could click on Attack. Currently, the only way to counter this is by typing in a message asking your clanmates not to strike your base.

root raider

As expected, you do not get any rewards for it, other than giving players the ability to test out and strengthen their own defenses. This also acts as a perfect opportunity to test out the new troop called Root Raider, which essentially prioritizes defenses over other building types. It is capable of destroying walls very quickly and adds to the list of other wall-ignoring troops like miners.

Additionally, we also got access to a new building called the Blacksmith which will add unique perks to your troops and heroes. It can be upgraded until level 9 and it will unlock one unique ability or power with each increment.
