Is Fu Xuan Worth Pulling in Honkai Star Rail?

A lot of players are curious to know if Fu Xuan is worth pulling in Honkai Star Rail. The character follows the path of Preservation but is quite different from the traditional frontline tanks that are available in the game. While Fu Xuan in Honkai Star Rail does not provide a shield to herself and her allies, she makes up for it through various other useful abilities. Is Fu Xuan Good?

Yes, Fu Xuan in Honkai Star Rail is currently one of the strongest Preservation characters due to her impressive self-sustainability while also being able to protect allies by absorbing most of the damage they receive.

Additionally, she is also a decent option for F2P (Free-to-Player), as she does not necessarily need her signature Light Cone in order to perform well. There are a lot of alternatives to choose from that can easily be acquired in the game, mostly focusing on damage reduction and team buffs. However, acquiring her signature Light Cone will definitely boost her potential even more.

Fu Xuan abilities explained

Here is a simplified explanation of Fu Xuan’s abilities in Honkai Star Rail;

Basic Attack

• Fu Xuan deals single-target quantum damage equal to a percentage of her Max HP (Health Points).

Skill

• Activates “Matrix of Prescience” which will distribute 65% of the damage all allies would receive from an attack to Fu Xuan for 3 turns.

• Increases all allies’ max HP and Crit Rate while the buff is active,

• The buff disappears if Fu Xuan gets knocked down.

Ultimate

• Deals Quantum damage to all enemies equal to a percentage of her HP.

• Gain one “Trigger Count” for her Talent ability

Talent

• While Fu Xuan is active, all allies receive less damage.

• Fu Xuan uses one “Trigger Count” stack to restore HP when she falls below 50% health.

• One Trigger count stack is available at the start of the battle and can stack up to two.

Technique

• The whole party receives a barrier that prevents enemy ambush for 20 seconds.

• Entering battle while the barrier is active will immediately activate the “Matrix of Prescience” at the start of the battle, lasting for two turns.

Bonus Abilities

Taiyi, the Macrocosmic

• When “Matrix of Prescience” is active, Fu Xuan gains 20 additional energy when her skill is used.

Dunjia, the Metamystic

• When Fu Xuan’s ultimate ability is used, heal all allies based on a percentage of her Max HP.

Liuren, the Sexagenary

• When “Matrix of Prescience” is active, all allies can resist all types of Crowd Control (CC) debuffs once during during the current action. 

• This effect can only be activated once per “Matrix of Prescience” cast.

• The effect can be reactivated by casting “Matrix of Prescience” once again.

Fu Xuan Tips in Honkai Star Rail

Here are a few reasons why Fu Xuan is good to have in Honkai Star Rail as well as a bit of downsides to her abilities;

SP Positive if built with decent speed stat

Fortunately, Fu Xuan is quite an SP (skill point) Positive unit and can easily keep her “Matrix of Prescience” up forever. Considering how her ultimate is the only ability with healing capabilities, players will need to build as much speed as possible in order to generate enough SP and energy to cast her ultimate and gain more stacks and healing.

Note: SP Positive is a term used to describe characters who do not need to use too much SP and can still be useful. They usually just spam basic attacks for most of the their turns and only need to cast their abilities once in awhile.

HP and DEF stats makes her almost unkillable

While Fu Xuan’s abilities scale a lot with her HP, a decent amount of Defense (DEF) is also a good stats to have. This will allow her to be more tanky and survive burst attacks from bosses as she is very weak against continuous AoE (Area of Effect) attacks.

Completes the Mono-Quantum team composition

If you have a Mono-Quantum team, Fu Xuan is the perfect Preservation character to add in that lineup which guarantees a 100% Quantum weakness application for Silverwolf on top of great survivability even without any Abundance Path characters.

Fu Xuan does not regenerate energy from damage-sharing

When an ally is attacked while “Matrix of Prescience” is active, Fu Xuan absorbs a portion of the original damage but does not generate any energy from it. She only gains energy from attacks if she is the main target or if she is adjacent to an AoE attack.

CC immune effect can’t fully protect allies from consecutive debuff attacks

The bonus ability “Liuren, the Sexagenary” cannot fully protect allies from attacks that trigger multiple times in one cast like some of Boss Cocolia’s freeze effects or the Aurumaton imprisonment abilities.

Overall, Fu Xuan is definitely worth pulling in Honkai Star Rail. Her abilities allow her to protect allies and can even sustain the entire team. She also opens up a lot of potential team composition that does not require a healer in the team.
