Break Effect is a main stat in Honkai: Star Rail that players can focus on alongside ATK, DEF, HP, and Speed. Only after a character successfully initiates a Weakness Break on an enemy does the stat of Break Effect become significant. Depending on the element that completely depletes the toughness meter and initiates the Weakness Break, it may have an effect on the damage dealt after the Weakness Break, as well as the DoT values or the Action Delay amount. However, it has no effect on how quickly a character wears down the enemy's toughness meter.

What Does Break Effect Do in Honkai Star Rail
Fundamentally, the Break Effect strengthens the impact of Weakness Breaks, enhancing the player's capacity to inflict damage gradually and control enemy behavior. Players can activate this state, giving them a significant edge in combat, by incurring Weakness Breaks.
In other words, you can only use the Break Effect after defeating an enemy's Toughness Meter, which is represented by the white bar above their HP Meter Once you have overcome their defenses, you will then be able to deal more damage and have the effects of each type be enhanced, depending on the type of character you use. The effects of Weakness Break for each category are listed below:
Wind: Weakness Break will deal Wind DMG and apply the Wind Shear effect, dealing Wind DoT (Damage over Time).
Physical: Weakness Break will deal Physical DMG and apply the Bleed effect, dealing Physical DoT.
Fire: Weakness Break will deal Fire DMG and apply the Burn effect, dealing Fire DoT.
Ice: Weakness Break will deal Ice DMG and Freeze the target, immobilizing the enemy and dealing additional Ice DMG.
Lightning: Weakness Break will deal Lightning DMG and apply the Shock effect, dealing Lightning DoT.
Quantum: Weakness break will deal Quantum DMG and apply the Entanglement effect, delaying the enemy's action and dealing Additional Quantum DMG to the affected enemy at the start of the next turn. When the enemy is hit, this extra DMG will increase.
Imaginary: Weakness Break will deal Imaginary DMG and apply the Imprisonment effect, dealing the enemy's action and reducing its SPD.
Break Effect in Honkai: Star Rail can be compared to Elemental Mastery in Genshin Impact. It is an independent stat that is unaffected by other stats such as ATK or, in this case, Crit Rate and Crit DMG. This makes it an easy attribute to prioritize, as players who construct characters with a concentration on Break Effect do not need to over-optimize other metrics in order to maximize their damage.
