Tingyun is a 4-star Harmony character in Honkai Star Rail.
New players often neglect support characters as they focus more on building an all-damage team.
Here are five reasons why players should consider building Tingyun in Honkai Star Rail.

Tingyun in Honkai Star Rail is considered as one of the most overpowered supports in the game. On top of being an SP (Skill Point) Positive character, she can also amplify the damage of other allies significantly on top of providing faster energy regeneration to cast an Ultimate ability as soon as possible. One of the most common mistakes players make is ignoring supports in the game as they focus on dealing burst damage and ignoring any utility such as damage amplification and healing. This article shall explain why a support character is crucial for team composition and why Tingyun in Honkai Star Rail is among the most recommended team additions.

5 Reasons Why Tingyun is Overpowered in Honkai Star Rail

1. Less expensive to build

A lot of players prefer investing their resources in their main damage dealer. This is why Tingyun is perfect for such players as she does not need much investment to be good enough as a support. Simply upgrade her Ultimate and Skill to at least Level 8 and equip a 4-piece Messenger Traversing Hackerspace with ATK% stats and she’s good to go. For survivability, you can always go for Fleet of the Ageless Link Rope and Planar Sphere for HP and team damage boost.

Even without the best builds, Tingyun still offers a lot of value, especially on characters who require frequent Ultimate ability uptime.

2. Massive Energy Regeneration buff

The one thing that makes Tingyun in Honkai Star Rail unique compared to other characters is her ability to provide massive Energy generation to herself and her ally. If her Ultimate ability is not yet ready, simply cast her technique until her Energy is full before initiating a battle. Having your Ultimate ability ready at the start of a battle can help you win fights most of the time.

3. Massive Damage Buff

Almost all of Tingyun’s abilities are all about amplifying the damage of an ally. Additionally, these buffs can stack, allowing you to focus all of your buffs on your main DPS. This is insanely effective for a wide variety of playstyles such as a burst or DoT damage. Additionally, she can boost a character’s speed after unlocking Eidolon 1.

Keep in mind that a character such as Blade will gain less advantage when paired with Tingyun in Honkai Star Rail as he scales more with HP than ATK.

4. Very SP Positive

A lot of players find themselves running out of SP in the middle of a battle. However, when you bring Tingyun as a support, she only needs one SP every two turns, or at least until she uses up all her Skill effect stacks. This means you will be using basic attacks after casting her Skill, giving you additional SP to use on other characters.

5. Decent damage on basic attacks

Most of Tingyun’s Traces focus on boosting her overall ATK stat. This means she will have a decent amount of damage while also recovering SP for allies with her basic attacks which further get stronger with more Eidolon levels.
