Pity in Genshin Impact is a commonly discussed concept that holds significant importance for players navigating the game's mechanics. This term refers to a unique system that ensures players will obtain a high-grade character or weapon after a specific number of wishes. Understanding the specific wish count required for Pity in Genshin Impact empowers players, granting them knowledge of when they can expect to unlock their desired item. Furthermore, it's essential to note that this mechanic is further divided into two distinct categories: Soft Pity and Hard Pity. How does Pity in Genshin Impact work in rate-up limited-event banners?

Pity in Genshin Impact ensures that players are guaranteed a 5-star character after 90 pulls. However, it's important to understand that there are two types of Pity mechanics in the game.

Soft Pity becomes active after completing 74 wishes. As players continue to make unsuccessful wishes beyond this point, the probability of obtaining a 5-star character progressively rises. This gradual increase continues until it reaches a “Hard Pity” or 100% assurance on the 90th wish, guaranteeing players a coveted 5-star character. 

As for the weapon banners in Genshin Impact, the Pity activates after 80 pulls. The Soft Pity starts at 65 wishes which increases until you are guaranteed the 5-star weapon at 80 wishes.

In addition to the Pity system in Genshin Impact, Hoyoverse introduced the 50/50 system. If players are unable to obtain a featured character or weapon in their first 5-star item from the banner, their next 5-star item is guaranteed to be one of the coveted featured characters or weapons. 

Players should take note that the guarantee from the Pity or 50/50 system in Genshin Impact also carries over to future limited event banners until you get your featured 5-star item. This means, players can build up their pity in one banner and wait until the next featured banner to immediately get the 5-star character or weapon they want.
