Genshin Impact version 3.8 is bringing a banner featuring the reruns of the 5-star Anemo DPS, Wanderer, and the 5-star Hydro support, Sangonomiya Kokomi. With the upcoming Fontaine characters generating excitement, players are faced with the decision of whether to spend Primogems on Kokomi's banner or save for the new region's characters. In this guide, we'll help you make an informed decision about pulling for Kokomi.

Kokomi’s Abilities and Her Place in the Meta

Kokomi is a 5-star Hydro Catalyst user who excels in two roles: healer and Hydro damage support. Her Elemental Skill summons a jellyfish that deals Hydro damage and heals teammates, while her Elemental Burst boosts her attack and heals teammates with each hit. She's become one of the most useful Hydro support units in the game after the introduction of her artifact set, Ocean-Hued Clam.

Artifact Sets for Kokomi

The best artifact set for Kokomi is the Ocean Hued Clam, obtainable from the Slumbering Court Domain in Inazuma. This set offers the following effects:

  • 2-piece: Healing Bonus +15%.

  • 4-piece: When the character equipping this artifact set heals a character in the party, a Sea-Dyed Foam will appear for 3 seconds, accumulating the amount of HP recovered from healing (including overflow healing). At the end of the duration, the Sea-Dyed Foam will explode, dealing DMG to nearby opponents based on 90% of the accumulated healing. (This DMG is calculated similarly to Reactions such as Electro-Charged, and Superconduct, but it is not affected by Elemental Mastery, Character Levels, or Reaction DMG Bonuses). Only one Sea-Dyed Foam can be produced every 3.5 seconds. Each Sea-Dyed Foam can accumulate up to 30,000 HP (including overflow healing). There can be no more than one Sea-Dyed Foam active at any given time. This effect can still be triggered even when the character who is using this artifact set is not on the field.

Kokomi’s build should be tailored to her playstyle. HP%/DMG%/HB is usually her best on-field option for personal damage and healing.

Best Weapons for Kokomi

Kokomi’s signature weapon increases her healing and damage while also reducing ER requirements when she is played on-field. The Everlasting Moonglow is her best weapon for personal damage, but her free-to-play weapon options are not far behind, these include:

  • Prototype Amber

  • Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers

  • Sacrificial Fragments

  • Hakushin Ring

Best Teams for Kokomi

Before pulling for Kokomi, consider whether your team needs Hydro application and healing. If your current team can synergize well with Hydro, Kokomi's abilities can be a game-changer, especially in the Spiral Abyss.

  1. Freeze Team (Kokomi + Ganyu + Ayaka + Venti): The Freeze team is Kokomi's go-to composition, utilizing her off-field Hydro application ability. Ganyu serves as the main DPS, Ayaka as the Burst support, and Venti gathers enemies for efficient crowd control.

  2. Sukokomon (Kokomi + Sucrose + Fischl + Xiangling): Considered the best F2P team for Kokomi, this lineup comprises 4-star characters, excluding the priestess herself. Sucrose, Fischl, and Xiangling can all trigger their elements off-field to support Kokomi.

Ultimately, whether you should pull for Kokomi depends on your team's composition and your need for a powerful Hydro support and healer. If you find her abilities and role align well with your team's requirements, the Kokomi banner rerun is worth considering. However, for players eager to explore the upcoming Fontaine characters, saving Primogems might be a better strategy.
