Genshin Impact Fontaine Research Institute Chronicles: A Guide to Retrieve the Anchors

In Genshin Impact's Version 4.1, the Fontaine Research Institute Chronicles questline is introduced and it grants players access to the Central Laboratory Ruins and the floating water cubes in the air. This quest takes players on a search to retrieve the remaining Anchors, which are crucial to uncovering the secrets hidden within the Central Laboratory Ruins. To assist you in your quest, we've prepared a step-by-step guide on how to retrieve these Anchors.

Quest Overview and Rewards

The Fontaine Research Institute Chronicles quest is particularly important in version 4.1 of Genshin Impact as it grants access to the floating water cubes, where you'll find Hydroculus. Completing this quest swiftly is advisable due to the valuable rewards it offers:

Retrieving the Remaining Anchors

To proceed in the Fontaine Research Institute Chronicles quest, you'll need to solve puzzles in two distinct places. The Anchors you seek are divided between the Institute Dormitories and the Institute of Clockwork Applications.

Locating Anchor No. 1 - Institute Dormitories

1. Step 1: As you enter the Institute Dormitories, your first task is to locate an Ousia Block at the end of the room. Collect this block.

2. Step 2: Return to the entrance of the dormitory and interact with the Pneuma-aligned Fixed Storage Device. This action will activate the Research Terminal. Alternatively, you can employ the power of Ousia Arkhe instead of picking up the block. Lynette's Skill is a convenient choice, especially since she is a free character in Genshin Impact.

3. Step 3: Once the door opens, pick up the Energy Transfer Device and place it strategically in front of the Research Terminal near the door.

4. Step 4: Venture deeper into the dormitory and activate the Energy Transfer Terminal. This action will shift your perspective to the terminal's camera-like device. While in this camera view, aim your crosshair at the activated (blue) Fixed Storage Device and press the action button to absorb the energy. Then, direct your crosshair at the red Energy Transfer Device and press the action button again to transfer the energy into it.

5. Step 5: Once the Energy Transfer Device turns blue, pick it up once more. Head inside and position it near the Research Terminal, which will close the gate. Initiate the mechanism to open the door, granting access to the first anchor needed for the Fontaine Research Institute Chronicles quest.

Locating Anchor No. 2-  Institute of Clockwork Applications

1. Step 1: Proceed to the Institute of Clockwork Applications to retrieve the second anchor. After Nacker opens the door, enter the area, where you'll encounter two Mekas guarding the Energy Transfer Terminal. Defeat these adversaries to unseal the terminal.

2. Step 2: Prior to activating the terminal, head to the corner of the room and dismantle a rock boulder. This action will reveal a Fixed Storage Device. Similar to the previous step, use the Ousia Block on the wall to activate it and change its color from red to blue.

3. Step 3: Activate the Energy Transfer Terminal and adjust your perspective by aiming the crosshair at the terminal on the right side of the room.

4. Step 4: Afterward, extract the energy from the Fixed Storage Device and adjust your crosshair to target the terminal under the Ousia Block to switch the camera's perspective again.

5. Step 5: Finally, activate the red Fixed Storage Device to activate the Research Terminal, granting you access to the second Anchor.
