During their adventures in the world of Teyvat, there are a lot of things that players can miss unintentionally. And that is especially true for the hidden quests, chests, and achievements that are part of the game. And with the game reaching a sort of calm after the introduction of Fontaine and before the new region, now is the perfect time to catch up on things you might’ve missed. The Fontaine region has many secrets and puzzles including the Cipher letters that lead to the hidden achievement “The Calendar of the Future Is Longer Than the Diary of the Past.”
These Cipher letters are found between the Liffey Region and Fontaine’s Research Institute and can only be read using an Energy Transfer Terminal. Here’s a guide to finding all six Cipher letters.
All Cipher Letter Locations in Fontaine
Cipher Letter #1 - Material Office Ruins
Located inside the Materials Office ruins.
Complete the Fontaine Research Institute Chronicles World Quest to access.
Use the Energy Transfer Terminal on the second floor to decipher the Cipher symbol on the first floor.
Cipher Letter #2 - Academy Assembly Hall
Teleport to the north waypoint near the Experimental Field Generator.
Head to the lower floors and use an Ousia block to activate the Energy Transfer Terminal.
Pan the viewfinder to your left and scan the Cipher letter.
Cipher Letter #3 - Experimental Field Generator Boss
Teleport back to the same waypoint and head south to the assembly hall ruins.
Climb to the upper floors to find the Energy Transfer Terminal and scan the Cipher symbol.
Cipher Letter #4 - Central Laboratory Ruins
Teleport north of Central Laboratory Ruins and glide southeast towards a ruined building.
Find the stairs leading to the basement and unlock the Energy Transfer device using an Ousia block.
Transfer energy from the blue storage block to the red block to scan the Cipher letter.
Cipher Letter #5 - Executive Office Ruins
Teleport to the Experimental Field Generator north waypoint and head west to the Executive Office ruins.
Activate the terminal by hitting the Energy Storage block with an Ousia block.
Defeat the Clockwork Meks and scan the Cipher letter.
Cipher Letter #6 - Liffey Region
Teleport to the region’s Statue of Seven and use the nearby stairs.
Activate the terminal and scan the sixth Cipher letter.
Rewards and Hidden Achievement
By locating and decoding all six Cipher letters, players will unlock the hidden achievement “The Calendar of the Future Is Longer Than the Diary of the Past” and receive Primogems as a reward. Happy exploring, Travelers!
