The Season of Discovery in WoW Classic is Blizzard's solution to the demand for Classic+ content, providing new content without an expansion. Phase 1 of the Season began on November 30, 2023, Phase 2 on February 8, 2024, and Phase 3 is set to be released in the spring of 2024. Phase 3 is expected to bring new content to WoW Classic from new level caps to a new raid. Each phase lasts at least one month, but up to three or four months. Here's a breakdown of what we know so far.

WoW SoD Phase 3 Release Date and Features

Blizzard has stated that Phase 3 will begin in spring 2024, but a precise date has yet to be released. Following the pattern of earlier stages, which lasted approximately 10 weeks, Phase 3 is expected to begin in mid-April. The phase is expected to take one to four months, with the latest start date in May or June. The new phase will increase the level cap to 50, as well as include new runes and profession upgrades.

New Raid: Sunan Temple

One of the most anticipated additions to Phase 3 is a new 20-person raid, with speculations pointing to the Sunan Temple, also known as the Sunken Temple, as a potential location for the raid. Changes in lockout times and lock ID updates indicate that the dungeon is being repurposed as a raid. The Sunken Temple, with its rich narrative and class-specific quests, should be a perfect setting for the new raid content.

Professions and PvP Content

Phase 3 will also bring updates to professions, with the level cap likely increasing to 300 (Artisan) and the introduction of profession specializations. PvP content is also expected to see improvements, with new PvP events and zones being added to the game.

Phase 4 and Beyond

Phase 4 is set to begin in the summer of 2024, with the level cap raised to 60 and Molten Core reintroduced as a 20-player raid. Blizzard has also hinted at significant itemization changes around level 60, including the redesign of numerous dungeon and raid items as well as the addition of new items to accommodate diverse playstyles and build types.

As Season of Discovery progresses, players can expect additional updates and improvements to the game, with Blizzard hinting at major endgame content.
