The current Hydro Archon in Genshin Impact is Focalors. She is the God of Justice and presides over the nation of Fontaine. Focalors is a young Archon, having ascended to the throne only a few years ago after the death of her predecessor. She is known for her strict adherence to the law and her unwavering sense of justice. Focalors is a powerful and feared figure, and her word is law in Fontaine. Very little is currently known about Genshin Impact’s Hydro Archon but we are likely to meet her in-game when we commence patch 4.0’s Archon Quests.
What we know about Genshin Impact’s Hydro Archon
During a previous Archon Quest, Nahida (Dendro Archon) told us that Focalors has a unique personality and enjoys being present in Fontaine’s affairs.
During the cataclysm in Teyvat, the powerful figure known as the Lord of Amrita met her demise, leaving a void in the realm. Subsequently, Focalors assumed the role of the Hydro Archon, but this transition was not readily accepted by the Lochfolk, a group of beings residing in the region, including the formidable Rhodeia of Loch.
They harbored deep reservations about recognizing Focalors as the new Hydro Archon, as they believed her ascension had a detrimental impact on the sacred waters of Fontaine, causing them to become imbued with anguish and malevolence.
In the Archon Quest “A Toast to Victory in Chapter III: Act V - Akasha Pulses, the Kalpa Flame Rises”, Nahida mentions that while Focalors doesn't directly preside over trials, she is still present and has the right to influence the final verdict.
A fun little fact about the archons is that all of them are named after demons and Focalors is no exception. According to the Lesser Key of Solomon, "Focalor" is a Great Duke of Hell and the 41st demon, having thirty legions of demons under his command. According to the grimoire, Focalor has power over the wind and the sea, can cause death by drowning and save those about to perish in a watery grave. His hope was to return to Heaven after a thousand years, but he was deceived.”
If you are wondering when the Hydro Archon will be playable in Genshin Impact, we have to wait until at least patch 4.2, based on leaks. But we will get to meet her in patch 4.0 during the main questline so it will give us an idea of what her personality is like and how she influences the politics of Fontaine.
